    Skim Milk PWO Shake

Before you all start telling me what a puss I am and to man up, know that the adjustments I have made so far have been drastic for a guy who lived off of pizza, chinese food, and all your various fast food chains.

It's come to the point where I can't stomach my whey powder mixed with water - especially with my creatine in the mix. I'm starting to develop a gag reflex from it and it's pretty unpleasant.

I used to mix it with skim milk and would like to go back to doing that. I have heard that the body doesn't react to lactose in the same way it does to fructose or sucrose for instance. I don't know whether this is true, but at the end of the day we're talking about 12g of carbs/sugar - is this really going to make or break a cut diet?

    a) i'm staying within my alloted carb maximum for the day

    b) i'm only doing this PWO which I would imagine if there is ANY time your body is going to be more forgiving of taking in sugar, it would be at this meal.

I have a casein shake (ON Gold Standard 100% Casein) before bed and have no problem whatsoever mixing it with water - it mixes so thick and tastes great, I actually look forward to it! Too bad they can't make the whey taste/mix the same - I didn't realize it would be SO different!

So, what do you think about the skim milk PWO? Can I be on a cut diet and still get away with this? (8oz, 8g protein, 12g carbs (lactose), 90 calories)

the issue is pwo should be fast acting, thus the use of casein or milk to slow down the absorption is not advised...

with the addition of the milk the digestion time would be 1.5 hours of digestion..

    make sense??

Sort of - I can see why the 8g of protein from the milk itself would be slow absorption, but you're saying that because i'm mixing my whey powder in milk, the milk will also slow the absorption of the whey?

If the above is true, then if anything I should be mixing PWO whey with water, and bedtime Casein with milk (or water due to the 12g of sugar)?
