Should caloric intake be adjusted for activity level that day?

Pretty straight forward question, should you eat more on days when you are very active and less on days when you are not?

I have days where I will take the dog to the reservoir by my house and knock out 5-8 miles. Usually that is on an off day though. Also depending on the type of work I am doing my activity can vary a great deal.

But either way if you are engaging in activity that is taxing should you eat more than on a day where you are just sitting around?

What is your current goal? How are you eating right now - at, above or below TDEE?

I am talking in general terms.

If someone was cutting then obviously you would not adjust, but I am not.

I really don't think there are general terms for this, at least not IMO. I think it depends on the goal in mind. If I were bulking and/or trying to add mass, I probably would not adjust. If I were cutting, I WOULD adjust and eat fewer calories (and carbs for that matter) on non-workout days.

That said, if you are doing a big walk with your dog, you might be ok just leaving calories as is.

Assuming you're eating at or just above maintenance on workout days and doing cardio, I would definitely reduce overall calories on non-workout days, OR eat at maintenance but drop the cardio.
