    Fat Calipers

Guys, I know there are 100's of websites to buy them, but where can I get them at a "real store" in the US? I've checked local sporting goods stores, Walmart etc. and no luck.

Care to elaborate? Are they less useless than the electronic ones that are now built into some scales (those using Bioelectrical Impedance)? I've heard those are "useless" and not accurate at all as to the true %(only benefit is that it may show a trend.)

I've heard and read that with the calipers, if you do the 9 point test it is fairly accurate (with consistency and a bit of practice).

Most people say the only way to get a true reading is a dunk tank.

I have a 3 pt caliper and it is garbage, completely worthless IMO.

9 pt might be better but it is so subjective as far as your fat distribution and all types of other variables.

I started a thread on this topic a month ago about this if you want to search.

I will take calipers over a dunk tank 10 out of 10 times. You should be getting checked weekly when on a cutting or precontest diet. Who wants to go and get that scheduled (and paid for) that often. Calipers may have a 1-2% error but I am not as concerned as much as accuracy as I am consistency. The numbers are used to make adjustments in your diet and cardio schedule. Besides, a correctly done 9 point is very effective and hits most all major fat storage areas on the body.
