Help! Quick answer for before bed meal
I ran out of casein last night & my current casein shipment is on back-order, so I need a substitution & I'm not cheating or anything...
I tried cottage cheese about 3 years ago & HATED it, but I've matured to eat food I hate... however, it's not in my fridge & I do not really feel like driving 10 minutes to pick it up, but I will if I have to...
Any quick substitutions? Like 4tbsp of peanut butter - but then I'd only consume 14g protein and 32g fat ...
Maybe 2scoops whey that I have left over with peanut butter - but then I'd wait til I'm half-asleep before drinking this...
OR? any quick fixes please!! I just realized that I had no more casein left!

You have a PM. But, i'll post it here as well.
Do not double up on the PB, too much fat! You do not have to eat cottage cheese or casein before bed, IMO people do it because it's quick and convenient (and of course the slower absorption rate of casein protein). They eat PB with those to slow absorption of protein even further.
You can do ANY protein source (except whey) - steak would be a great choice, and you can drop the PB because steak is already a good protein/fat meal. You could do chicken, fish, etc - if you do a lean protein, add the PB.

I think eggs could be another option as well - 4 whole for the fat and a few whites for some extra protein. Granted not the slowest absorping protein, but in a pinch eggs would be a fine choice.

That's just my opinion, some might disagree. But when the goal is a protein/fat meal (as it is for alot of people in the evening/before bed), eggs are perfect. Again, they aren't the slowest absorping protein, so in that respect they aren't perfect, but as I said, in a pinch or just for a change now and then, I think they're fine.

aahhaha That'll learn ya.. Casssein is my nightly fix, sometimes twice a night.. Real food is better for you, but the cassein will stop you turning catabolic in the wee hours..
I hammer down some tuna and some cassein (with diet cordial - lol) right before crashing.. Over here cassein can get pretty pricy, hence the mix (and it stretches further)
