My chicken smells like a pile of dog shi...

Anyone else have this issue? I make a ton of chicken about every other day. I bake it with a little bit of seasoning on it for flavor. After I eat whatever amount I'm going to eat, I'll throw the rest in tupperware and put it in the fridge and throughout the rest of the day or the next day I'll reheat it when having a meal.

Problem is, the second I open up the tupperware, I pretty much want to die. It's this god awful smell like someone took a dump and mixed it in with my chicken. The chicken tastes totally fine and after I heat it up the smell goes away and I only can smell the seasoning and smell of cooked chicken.

Does anyone else have this issue? After being refrigerated does chicken usually give off an odor? Is there anyway to prevent this?

Its just the seasoning settling with the juices. My smells horrrible when i use certain seasoning but other times it smells amazing after a few days in the fridge

Happens to me with my fish - and it's not a fishy smell, it literally smells like garbage.

As long as your sure your chicken is fresh, you have nothing to worry about. As Noles said, it's just those different ingredients all coming together and then sitting in an airtight container.

Limberger cheese smells god awful but tastes great.

I think I'd skip the tuppaware and go find a nice glass bowl and seal it with some plastic wrap. See if that helps.

    Very true!
and btw... it helps to have a dog around.
that way, you have something to blame the smelly protein farts on.

    Bad dog!

are you cooking it thoroughly? ususally takes longer to cook multiple breasts than the directions say for one..

also, is your fridge cold enough? mine is at 40 F and i don't have that issue even after 5 days...

Yes, I always cook it thoroughly to the point where there's no sign of pink at all, but I don't overcook it to the point where it's ridiculously chewy either. As far as the fridge I could check that out and maybe turn it down a little and see if that helps, thanks

Agreed, I used to do this all the time. Now I let it sit out til it's cooled down before putting it in the fridge. It does help a little, but still smells.

As said above it's probably just the juices and seasoning (I just use the low sodium "original chicken" seasoning, nothing special).
