    stevia or splenda

Which is better for you? I know stevia costs a little more but it is also supposedly all natural? are there any pros/cons with one or the other?

i think if you use in moderation it doesn't matter. too much of either is bad. a little bit of either won't hurt you. here's some pros and cons:

-Both are dangerous when overdosed (FDA recommends no more than 1.1mg/day of sucralose, the main ingredient in Splenda. negative side effects don't typically occur until you hit consumptions rates of 1500mg/day - this is like 8,000 packets)
-Splenda has a higher heat tolerance, so if you're cooking or putting it in coffee, probably Splenda is better
-Splenda is FDA approved, stevia is not
-Stevia is all natural and embraced by the "natural" vendors like Whole Foods, Splenda is not
-Splenda is about 600x sweeter than sugar; stevia is 2-300x
    -Splenda tastes better IMO

    That's my 2 cents...

I agree that either used in moderation is fine. If you're looking to go the more clean/natural route, stick with Stevia.

stevia / xyletol has one more interesting quality, and it has to do with a netti pot. bacteria in your body will consume xyletol, but will be unable to digest it... so therefore, it will starve and die. a little xyletol in your netti pot when you have a sinus infection will improve your condition (not cure) in a day.
