Chicken Pad Thai...
lol..
So i have been eating chicken pad thai about 3 times per week. In terms of Calories, it is by far the worst thing that I eat.
I also eat 4 Satay skewers with the chicken pad thai (sauce on the side). The skewers are fairly lean and if I see any fat I pull it off.
The rest of my meals are clean, but somedays I just give in to the Pad Thai...
Is it really that bad?..
( i am in a bulking phase but trying to keep BF below 15%, currently on a 500mg/week test Cyp Cycle)

typical ingredients in pad thai sauce are Hoisin sauce (high in sugar), peanut butter, sesame oil, vinegar, brown sugar, red pepper flakes and such. Its not the worst thing to eat, it is relatively high in sodium, the pasta with the pad thai is usually rice noodles in some places its just regular pasta so thats not the best carb for you. I wouldn't eat it if i were on a lean bulk

Yeh this is definately the rice noodles. I usually have it before 1pm straight after a workout or just before, 3 days/week.
Thanks for the info man.
Oh! how good is it... I cant even explain.
No way not prepackaged, this is the real deal traditional pad thai from the thai restraunt, cooked to perfection and not that shitty supermarket style pad thai some restaurants give you either. For $15 you get a massive plate of it with lemon and 4 big chicken satay skewers... I cant resist...At least the whole meal has moderate in protein i guess..

Scotty is right on with regard to the ingredients but let me reinforce here.
When apprenticing the chef at TenPenh in DC, we used to run a pad Thai special. Unlike Italian pasta dishes, Pad Thai is not saturated in a lot of sauce. Rather, it's coated in oil rather heavily. Several servings of vegetable oil and a light splash of sesame were in the wok well before an ounce of protein, aromatics, Hoi Sin, peanuts, or fish sauce. Combine a huge serving of pasta with at least 60g of fat from oil and peanuts and what you have is a meal that just isn't justifiable more than once per week assuming you're looking to lower your body fat percentage. Of course, just like most ethnic food more than most contemporary north american food - Pad Thai is also going to run stupidly high in sodium with the soy, hoi sin, green leaf paste, and fish sauce. I love the stuff too but even compared to a lot of restaurant food, it IS a high calorie, high carb, high fat, high sodium dish.
If you're simply looking to lean bulk and you're eating this pre/post-workout only three lunches per week - all I can say is keep an eye on your body fat. Provided the rest of your diet is in check, I think it's fine. If you're actually trying to cut body fat, you should have it only as a PWO cheat meal once per week. Maybe try Pho the other two times per week?

Scotty and Damien have this right. I love Pad Thai too, but it's most definitely a cheat meal IMO.
