how many cals burned in these exercises??
Hey, guys. I am just wanting to get an idea of approximately how many cals are burned doing certain exercises. The internet has many different calculations, and I know it would be hard to get a precise number, but I was just wondering what you guys think:
running-low intensity
running-interval training (ex: 2min moderate/45sec sprint)
ellyptical-low intensity
ellyptical-interval training (ex: 2 min moderate/45sec fast)
stationary bike-low intensity
stationary bike-same inter. as above
weight training (heavy) (ex: total of 20sets per session)
Let's say, for argument sake, that someone were to do one of these exercises for 45 min. Approx how many cals do you think are burned?

No two people will have the same numbers, some will have a several hundred calorie difference. You would need to know each persons lean body mass plus their heart rate during the entire activity and probably a few other bits of information to get an accurate number.

Thanks for the reply Fire. I am just wanting to get, more or less, a guesstimate. Let me rephrase the question. My cardio consists of 45 minutes on the ellyptical in the AM, fasted. I do 2 minutes moderate, then 1 minute as fast as I can. I do 15 intervals like this.
My stats are:
26yo
5'9"
164lbs
about 14-15%bf
Can you give me a rough idea of how many calories I can burn during this exercise. Even if it's within a hundred cals or so, it's better than what I got now, becuase I'm absolutely clueless. Thanks!

Fireguy is right. VERY difficult to give you a guess. We can't see how hard you are working. "as fast as I can" may mean something entirley dif to you than it does to someone else. We don't know how fast you "can" etc.. It also as fireguy stated depends greatly on where your heart rate is at. THAT will depend on several diff factors. Some from your body and some from your environment.
Very very rough ballpark guess based on what I know and what I assume - 400-500

As stated above there are way too many variables still to give you a concise answer. For me, with moderate exertion I figure 10 calories per minute (600 per hour). If you want to get a good estimate and make accurate comparables get yourself a quality HR/Fitness watch and plug all your personal info into it. It will then track your HR during any activity and give you calories burned.
