The guys around here recommend low volume high intensity during fasted strength training and 10g BCAA about 15 min before your workout to help keep your lbm.

In theory, your body could convert the amino acids in your bloodstream from your protein intake, into glucose to burn during cardio. Protein intake can also cause a slight insulin response, and when insulin/glucose are present, the body does not burn any significant amount of stored BF as fuel.
IMO, this would only be possible if you were already at a fairly low BF% as your body will burn whatever fuel source is most readily available.
