Insulin Resistant
Read an article in Men's Health that leads me to believe I am insulin resistant. That and based off factors in my blood work that was mentioned in the article. So if I am, which I plan on medically verifying, what kind of diet or foods do I need to be eating or avoiding?

You'll need to 'retrain' your body to become more insulin sensitive. You can start by keeping sugar intake to an absolute minimum... I'd shoot for < 20g per day. A carb cycling approach might also be helpful.
What makes you think you're resistant?

No sense in guessing about it. Either go to the doctor or buy a blood glucose meter, you can pick one up for about $20.
Edit: and stop reading Men's Health, it's garbage.

^^^^^ Just stick to this forum mate, all the REAL answers are right here with no BS.
In regard to your original question: Omega 3 supplements slow down [but not reverse] insulin sensitivity. But gB is right, eliminate as much sugar from your diet as you can including milk.

Well I carry all of weight in my stomach, love handles and back. I tend to bloat and gain weight excessively if I don't watch my carbs. My last two fasted glucose levels were 80 and 90. My triglycerides to HDL ratio is over 4:1. I want to get my respiratory quotient checked. I looked it up on Wikipedia and a lot of the symptoms were me. I would like to know what kind of doctor I need to see to verify it. Diabetes does run in my family also. If you can give me some help with this I would appreciate it. PM me if you don't want to carry this out on the main board.

an endocrinologist would be the dr to see.
But if you dont want to spend the money. You can go to any pharmacy and they have a home a1c test. That is a 3 month average of your glucose levels.
80-90 isnt high. Your still in the normal range.
The best way to tell for insulin resistance is a bg reading after a meal not fasting.
Most men hold there fat in their stomach and love handles.
If you were insulin resistant you would be going hypergly***ia. You would have excessive thirst, urinating more, fatigueIf people can't tell your on steroids then your doing them wrong
