post workout meal
hey guys this is actually 2 questions
Firstly, just wondering how long after my post workout protein shake i can eat a full meal???
my shake contains 30g of whey and between 50 and 80 grams of dextrose. literally 5 mins after my shake im starving so how long after can i smash another meal??
secondly.. i feel like my metabolism is on fire and im hungry all the time which i love because it means i can eat big and get bigger lol
ive read that a meal every 2-3 hours is appropriate but should i eat to the clock or eat to how i feel??? for example the other day i smashed a massive steak and shit load of pasta im talking 70 or more grams of protein and 100g of carbs from this meal and i actually got hungrier could have easily gone for round 2, 30 mins later.
any advice would be greatly appreciated
cheers

A lot of people eat their PPWO meal about an hour after their pwo shake, but it's about 2.5 hours for me, simply a time/convenience issue.
Don't eat by the clock; simply hit your macros an you'll be fine - the point is that you DO eat.

I agree with gbrice on this. But more specifically, I don't feel that you should have to wait very long after your PWO supplement to eat a real meal. In fact I would encourage you to eat as soon as you feel like it, assuming that you're trying to put on weight and of course like gbrice pointed out, as long as you're keeping your macros in line. I'm bulking and I eat every two hours, but if I'm hungry at any point in between I'll eat. Hunger is an obvious sign that your body wants calories.

Careful here!! This isn't always true. Our bodies become conditioned to 'get hungry' when we follow a fairly rigid eating schedule (as most of us in this game do). e.g. let's say I always eat 400 calorie meal at 8am, and another 400 calorie meal at 11am, and I always start feeling hungry right around 10:30am or so... perfect, right?!?! Now let's say that after following this for a while, I eat an 800 calorie meal at 8am. I guarantee you i'll still feel hungry around 10:30am, although based on what I have been doing for X amount of time, my body surely doesn't 'need' calories at this time.
Do some research on the hormone ghrelin. You'll learn some interesting info!

Ah, the difference between wants and needs Good follow-up but like I said, keeping ones macros in line seems to be key here. Of course right now I'm doing some serious bulking and by my perspective the more quality calories I can consume the better. I also perform intense resistance training 4-5 days a week accompanied with 2 days of intense cardio on my non-weight lifting days, so my need is probably greater than my want. And I appreciate you pointing out ghrelin, I'm always looking to expand my knowledge on the subject.
