Cube Steak Anyone?
So I was just a Wal-Mart browsing the cuts of meat and took a look at cube steak. I was amazed to find that it had the same amount of fat as my 96/4 ground beef at 4.5g of fat, and was actually 1.00/lb cheaper at 3.98/lb.
I remember growing up my mom used to batter these and cover them with country gravy. Mmmmmm, they were tasty. I can't image I can make that fit my macro's LOL. Seems like I remember them being a bit tough and chewy on their own, but the gravy did a nice job combating that though.
So my question is....does anyone else eat cube steaks and do you have any recipes w/macros you would like to share.
Thanks

It may be what we call casserole steak over here, about the same pro/fat ratio. Needs sloooooow cooking for 4 hours or so. I add some chopped tomatoes, carrots, beef stock and a little flour.

Hmmm..
all the gravy is the drippings and flour and water, the meat is the meat
BiB got it right, slow cook that tough beef.. my mom made it to, but she used so much sodium we would bloat 5 lbs from that one meal now..The answer to your every question

Thanks Guys. I might have to play around with the slow cooker a bit. It'll be a nice change to the chicken and ground beef I've been doing.

Can you not pick up some cost effective pork tenderloin? Takes moments to stir fry and is just as lean.

Pork hadn't even crossed my mind. I might give that a shot too.
