I always suggest to people that they prioritize one goal over the other. You either work towards building muscle mass while maintaining bodyfat, or work towards cutting bodyfat while maintaining muscle mass. Working towards to polarizing goals simultaneously will probably drive you mad, and is what causes most people to get frustrated and eventually give up.
I actually just started a thread on this topic yesterday, see below:

It's funny, I actually thought you started that thread because of my comments in this one. Now I'm sad as I think you don't take any notice of me;(
GB I made a comment yesterday that I felt Lisa should run a lean bulk for a couple of months and then start cutting after a period of consolidating the gains. I think she needs to make a decision ASAP as some compounds have already been commenced and there's a danger, as you and I have stated, that this cycle will be results poor too.NO SOURCES GIVEN

lol, that's not why I started it, but I most definitely take notice of you. Hell, if you recall, I was the one pushing to get you on staff here!
I agree with you, lean bulk is the right direction for her IMO. She's already relatively lean, no need to cut further unless she's competing soon (do you have plans to Lisa?). Add more muscle, be mindful of adding bodyfat (but expect to add *some*; predetermine a threshold and make sure you don't go beyond that) and then cut if/when you need to.

Yeh, I know you're both right and that is probably another reason why I have failed before, as I am trying to do 2 contradicting things so not getting great results in either. So I will try stay similar BF but increase muscle. Is 2000cals with 70g fat, 150g carbs and 200g protein ok for this or can you suggest better? I am on the T3, i am during my 2 weeks off from clen and trying to get hold of var atm

Do you think I should have more than 2000 in your opinion?
I have this kind of carb fear so even 150g is a lot more than I was having but I do love carbs so if you think 200g a day would be good for me then that would make me a very happy girl. Yeh I can keep the fats down no probs, they're high atm as I am limiting the carbs and it's from things like avocados, peanut butter, smoked salmon etc but I can definitely keep that lower. Do you think even on Var, the T3 would stop me building muscle?

Nope. I think 2000 is good to start with. The important thing (in any case) is to monitor your progress (or lack thereof), and make adjustments as you go along. Nobody is going to get their diet dialed in perfectly right away, it takes a little time tweaking etc. to find your sweet spot, but once you do, you'll know it.
Based on your pics, you don't appear to have propensity to store bodyfat beyond the norm. Have you ever been overweight? I don't mean 5-10lbs, I mean overweight - 40lbs +. If not, let go of your fear of carbs, because it's likely in your head!
All good stuff, keep eating it, just a bit less!
I just don't see the point of running T3, given your goals. I'm open to an explanation though!

No, never been over weight, this is the heaviest I have ever been. Oh yeh, I definitely think you are right about it being in my head, it's like a pang of guilt when I eat carbs but I wasn't sure how low a 'low carb' diet actually was so thought I wasn't low enough....
Ha, yeh I'll try, the more I try and stop thinking about it the more tempted i'll be to wander over to my fridge and scoff down that smoked salmon, yum!
The T3 i thought might help me not to gain fat whilst on gear again and whilst eating more. I just thought it would help with being lean?

Just remember that carbs aren't your enemy, no more so than protein or fats. They have their place, especially with regard to building muscle. The only types who will probably do best (in terms of staying/getting lean) with a low carb diet are:
- those who are insulin resistant
- those who suffer from metabolic syndrome
- those who have specific food allergies to said carb
Other than that, fit them into your macros and you shouldn't have to worry about them making you fat more than anything else.
Thanks for the reminder - I need to stock up on smoked salmon myself!
You have to realize that you're dealing with straight thyroid hormone, it's not to be taken lightly (not saying you are). I certainly wouldn't run T3 as a means of 'preventative maintenance'. I'd see how you fare without, and consider adding it down the road if/when you need to cut. As for the clen - I personally wouldn't bother, but if you choose to, it at least has, as I mentioned earlier, some type of muscle sparing properties (T3 most certainly does not).

Ok, Yeh I think it's just a silly think I have embedded in my brain about the carbs, I shall try forget all that now, I do get sooo hungry without them!
Yup, I stocked up today, it's such a bugger though, it's like £6 ($9.62 dollars) for a little 100g pack, rip off but toooo good!
Ok, I trust what you're saying so I think I will put my clen and T3 safely in my pill box and ignore them for the time being, increase my food as we said and start on the var as soon as I can. Fingers crossed I see some changes
