whichoats?and how to prepare?
I was reading on one of the beginner diet formats to mix your oats into the protein shake.. my question is, what kind of oats? regular or steel cut rolled? and do they need to be prepared or do they go in raw? If they are being prepared how is everyone prepping them?
Thanks in advance

Whole oats are best. Quick oats will mix in shakes a bit better. I just add super hot water from tap and a handful of blueberries. I also eat them dry in my yogurt. It's pretty good.

I guess I am wondering if it is the rolled steel cut that I am using do I just measure them dry and put them in my shake it do I need to soak them like prior to cooking?? Kind of like flax seed, unless you grind them they are supposed to have almost no benefit to consumption ?

Steel cut oats need to be either soaked or cooked before consuming. If not it will be like eating grape nuts (wheat and barley cereal). My experiences with steel cut oats have been frustrating because they take like 20+ minutes to cook and always have an undercooked consistency. IMO crushed or rolled are much better choice when adding to a shake or used as a carb source with a meal.

Buy a coffee grinder. Grinds the oats to a powder. U usually grind up 3kg worth and put into a protein bucket. Lasts me a week.

Not sure about the U.S., but over here you can buy powdered oats from your usual protein supplier. Cheap and flavoured.
I use rolled oats, add to my shake and blend.
