Blood work....Any comments
What is up with my free test number? 39 years old. Losing size and strength over the past 5 years, and in the past 3 years I have blown 2 rotator cuffs and tore by distal bicep tendon. Did a few cycles in my early twenties but natural since then. Trying to figure out what the hell is going on.
Testosterone Results done by Labcorp.
Testosterone , Serum Total 455 ng/dl (range is 241 to 827)
Testosterone, Free Direct 9.9 pg/ml (range 8.7 to 25.1)
Here are the follow up tests done by Quest labs
DHEA Sulfate 68 (range 110 - 370 mcg/dL) This seems really low.
FSH 2.8 (range 1.6 - 8.0 mIU/mL)
LH 3.2 (range 1.5 - 9.3 mIU - mL)
Prolactin 6.3 (range 2.0 - 18.8 nm/mL)
Estradiol 33 (range 12 - 54 pg/mL)
My father goes to an anti-aging doc. I am going to see him tomorrow. He has been telling my father that 40 is the best age to start on TRT.

40...is that what they told you father? That's a load of shit, everybody's chemistry is different. I'm 34 and unfortunatly have been blessed with shitty genetics. Just started TRT and have seen "some" small benefits on Androgel . Your Estradiol is around the norm, but the TT is kind of on the low side. Remember that numbers on paper are good indicator, but if you don't feel healthy...what good are numbers then? Also your Free Test based upon those lab ranges would be consider "low-normal", as I'm learned you want to have a good Free Test number with a low Estradiol number.
If your father's dr is pulling that 40 yr BS, please make an appt with an Endo within your insurance plan if possible.Last edited by Alloy; 09-23-2009 at 09:23 PM.

meant to say that 40 is when he recommends males start getting tested, not necessarily start for no reason.
He put me on 10g of angrogel a day. Ill stick with this for 2 months and then go for injections if im not getting out of the gel. (which seems to be the consensus around here)

Androgel than injections seems to be the drill these days. You'll see "some improvements", but nothing like shots from what I'm told. Like you I'm on Androgel, but my Dr felt 2.5 mg was enough. Needless to say I have an Endo appt in 4 weeks. At the very least, you'll sleep better and won't be lethargic as much.
