how old are you guys on TRT?
I am curious to know how old you guys are and what made you do TRT. I feel like my natural test levels have been very low for the past year. do TRT clinics give blood tests and do any doctors to trt in their offices?

I think it would be a good idea to go to the doc and have blood work run. Just tell the doc how you feel.

Agree with Jim. Get some blood work done as soon as you can, full panel if possible with hormones, CBC w/platelets, and a lipid panel. At 24, you'll want to make sure all of those bases are covered.
I'm 42, and my test levels have been as low as 195. These things can sometimes happen in the 30's and 40's, and beyond, but usually at 24 you should be full of test. Check it out my friend and let us know.

thanks for the advice people. how much does bloodwork usually cost and does insurance cover it? do they draw blood out of my vein for a minute or something like that? Problem is I should finish my cycle and pct before getting bloodwork done I would think

It all depends. If you were to do it out of pocket at an independent lab, you could be looking at $250-$350. There are some extensive panels that go a lot higher, but you probably don't need that at this time. When I go through Kaiser it's $10.00 no matter how much they draw, which hopefully you have a carrier or some coverage to that can help on the finances.
If you had to pay out of pocket, for around $300 you should get a panel that includes:
CBC w/diff
Metabolic Panel
w/ALT, AST
Lipid w/ LDL/HDL & Total Chol
Thyroid w/ TSH, T4, T3 & Free Index
Testosterone (total & free)
IGF-1
Estro, LH, Progest
PSA
And tell the doctor to throw in a complete prostate exam just for good measure! You'll be happy you did, and you'll thank me later
Good luck!

I used to be scared of getting blood drawn to! It really isnt that bad just look away it only takes a few seconds. Wait till after you cycle and pct. A good guess is another 4 weeks from PCT go have blood work done but judge it by how you feel. TRT is an important decision and if i were you i would want my blood test to be accurate before making a life lone decision. When you feel back to normal before cycle. Go and have LABS drawn. Good luck

thanks man. I use Oxford so hopefully they would be able to cover it. $10 bucks with insurance? dam thats nothing. Do mostly all doctors in NYC give blood tests?
yes that would seem the be the time I would go in for it. I supposed I can deal with the blood being drawn. I nearly fainted and called an ambulance for my first testosterone injection so I can handle more now it seems hah

on TRT, is it okay to take a dose of like 500-750 weekly? or do you have to taper off eventually?

21 year old hrt
I'm glad the op started this thread...i've been really wanting to get this off my chest
I'm 21 and have been steadily at about 250mg/wk test e. I did it cause I came off a cycle a while ago and couldn't get hard and my girl was blaming herself etc etc and so I've been cruisin at 250mg/wk test e, going on month 8 or so now.
I have yet to get any bloodwork done. At the university student health services, i can pay cash individually for tests like free/total test (which costs $55) and estriadiol (i think that one is 50). And I don't wanna tell my primary care doc cause i'm also on strattera and Zoloft and i don't want him to kick me off of them (freaking out about my health/worrying about liver/kidney values)
but ummm yea i'm trying to save up for bloodwork but it looks like realistically i'll only be able to do free/total test and estriadiol
thanks for lettin me vent, opinions?

Alpha, this is why you need to do a serious timeout and talk to a doctor about your particular needs. A true TRT program usually consists of 100-200mg, again depending on the individual. 500-750 could get you in some real trouble! Talk to your doctor and get those tests done first, then let us know what he suggests.

IMHO doing TRT at 24 or 30 is simply insane
I'm on 200mg/week of Enanth. since 2 years , sometime I stop and go with SERMS. I'm 42.

oh I know the common doses are much lower, but when people cycle, dont they raise the amount of testosterone they take to make better gains? What is to stop someone from taking higher doses every week if it will help them make better gains?

I am 48 and started TRT this year. I run 400 mg. test-cyp every week. I like some things
about it but hate the acne. After my 12th week at 400 I'm gonna drop it to 200 mg.week
and 'criuse ' awhile -like 12 weeks.

I want to ask you is here someone who has prescribed TRT by himself?
I read on this website that many guys starts TRT at 19 years old. For example nick: lovbyts Can you tell us your story? I hope I am not confused and you are who I expect :-)
This is very interesting in my eyes

Pepous, is this you again? Your writing style and description (19yo, self prescribe TRT) looks just like the same guy who wouldn't let it go about a month ago.
TRT prescribed by myself
Where are all the guys on this site doing TRT at 19?

Urologist referred me to HRT. I told him my symptoms and he gave me a blood test. Blood test came back with low test levels. He gave me androgel and referred me to an endo. Endo gave me Test C shots but I had to push for them.
Now i'm taking Test C 100mg EW and I feel 100% better. Making some nice gains in the gym, toning up, more energy, sex drive is back, etc.

I'm 29 and had blood work done recently. I am growth hormone deficient and we be getting that taken care of for sure. My results also showed that my test levles are low for my age. I've been off my cycle now for about 9 weeks and I did an aggresive pct. I have a feeling the doc is going to prescibe me test but I'm not sure I want to go that route just yet. Once I go for that there is no turning back. It would make cyclng on and off so much easier though, no having to worry about pct. It's a life long commitment though. Is there any real health risks associated with hrt for life?

Started at 43 been on hrt/trt for 26 months now. Doing good my estrodrol may be a little high getting new bloodwork done next Monday. May include some Anastrozole, in the program. Only 100 mgs a week on the testosterone .
Started at 205 pds with 26% body fat
Now 213 pds and 16% body fat
I'm concerned with these guys starting at such a young age, weird maybe it has to do with diet and chemicals in water, plastics and such. Just a thought. I knew when I was in need, hit me at 41 like a brick wall.Last edited by biggunSC; 11-10-2009 at 05:04 PM. Reason: typo

I think alot of people just dont cycle properly and do bad pct protocols. This causes them to think they need to cruise at whatever dose. I am 26 now and want some kids so I hope I dont have to get on HRT until atleast my mid 30's. PCT can be a bitch but you have to give it some time for recovery. Also to Charlie6 you should just get some cialis and run an aggresive pct.

I think the HGH has a lot to do with it. Over the summer I cut down to 203 pds, and 13% body fat, the muscle mass stayed and was amost just as strong. HGH has been an equal part of my program 1iu a day 6 days a week. and a couple days a week HCG ...

I started HRT about 6 months ago. I ended up doing a cycle of test, and finished up about 2 weeks ago. Im 33, and I never even thought about having low test until my doctor did bloodwork. I was pretty low, and got the gel at first, then injections a month later.
