    After 1st usage of Androgel...

Okay, I was given a script for the Androgel pump yesterday and supposed to start it today. No place on the directions does it say how long the gel should stay on before you wash it off...but, it is very clear about making sure nobody else touches the affected area. So, do I put a shirt on for a little while until all is try and then take a shower or take a shower prior to putting the gel on and then take another shower later in the day? Thanks for any help with this as there are prob 10 pages that came with this stuff and none of them cover it.

Apply the gel after your shower in the morning and leave it on as long as you can. I think Dr. Crisler says that the gel is mostly absorbed after about an hour, but the longer you can wait until you swim or shower again, the better. What dosage were you prescribed? The pump version is much easier to use than the little packets. Depending on your dosage and how low your test. levels were before the gel, you may be feeling much better in a few weeks. Enjoy.

Note that many of us "graduated" to injectable testosterone after having started on the gel. The gel isn't a bad place to start your TRT journey though.

[FONT=System][SIZE=2]The "gel" is much better than the "injectable" because with the injectable lasting for 14 days (for example) day 1 (the shot), day 7 (the testosterone peaks (highest) then goes down, down and by the time you get the next shot your back down to where you started at day 1 ! The "gel" form keeps a always constant level of "testosterone" (levels) in your system...And then comes the new "pellet" that is injected under the skin and lasts 2 months..Thats a whole nother story

You resurrected a very old thread with bad information. Injecting test every 14 days is crappy anyways. You can get similar constant levels of test by injecting twice a week, or at minimum once a week.

Twice a week and no worries about transfer or washing it off. Way better for most but not all.

Was taking androgel as well. Supposed to use only on clean skin. I think you shouldnt get it wet for a few hours. My experience is, it sucks. Been off for 2 months. My total t was 1500. The doc stopped it for 2 months. My total t is now 117mg but my free t is 35.8[super high] have to wait another month for blood work...was on injections-thru the doc put on 30 pounds with strength thru the roof but too bloated for me...good luck

MRNJ I'd guess the bloat was estrogen related. Did your doc test for it or say it's not needed like so many other clueless doc's.

Estrogen,Dhea,Cortisol, etc all levels in the normal range. One thing could be part of this issue. In 1993 had a partial thyroidectomy.Think it was due to taking Dymetadrine 25. Did some Natural shows in the 90's but after my operation could not get that ripped again. Very frustrating. Thanks Kelkel for the reply.
