How common is adding HCG to TRT?
I was just curious. I asked my Dr's nurse about it today and she couldn't remember him prescribing HCG . And I called a couple of compounding pharmacies in the area looking for Dr recommendations, and neither of them knew of anyone who gave HCG as a part of Test therapy. Is it just uncommon? It seems like a lot of the guys here are on it.

Is that a deal breaker? Heh.
My doc put me on HCG six weeks after starting me on Test. He likes to add one thing at a time to see what happens.

Not going to hijack thread, but just a little side question:
Is you are on hcg , and your girlfriend is on the pill, what are the chances of getting her pregnant ?
Theoretically it shouldnt be possible, but i've heard rumours that it happened to some, and i just want to verify the facts.

I had a few emails with a local compunding pharmacy. When I asked about doctors that have prescribed HCG (for TRT), he remarked something to the effect that HCG is being banned in a number of states...wtf? I assume he meant the oral drops being used in the fad diet craze. But yes...I would venture that HCG is not commonly prescribed for TRT patients as doing so is an off-label use for the drug. So...being off-label, doctors aren't that familiar with the off-label use and maybe don't want to have to deal with the insurance headaches that could come from prescribing HCG off-label.
Some guys here just procure their HCG from foreign pharmas. and self-administer as per Dr. Crisler's protocol.

Totally depends on the physician - if it is a gp, endo or uro - then prolly not. If the doc specializes in anti aging and is up to speed with the data and research then yes it will be almost 100%. These guys that don't are the same ones who say you will have no need for an A.I. for the most part.
HCG is not being banned - They may be coming down on the diet dic's like you say - but HCG and HMG will be around for a long time IMO
Now, go find a new doc.

This it my approach as well, I explain to patients that testicular atrophy will most likely occur and we can treat that as well but I like to start simple and build over time. I find that 1/2 of my patients want to start after at their next follow up (3 months) usually the younger ones who notice the atrophy. I'll tell you that nearly all of those who start feel much better on it and to be honest we are not exactly sure why - most likely the other things HCG is probably affecting (pregnanolone etc). I do believe there is a slimming effect - probably mobilizes visceral fat but the research is not clear on this. When a patient has been doing well for a year on straight TRT and comes in saying they don't feel as good as they did in the beginning I'll add things in such as DHEA, HCG etc. You can't treat everyone the same because everyone's metabolism is different and depends on nutrition, exercise, genetics, body fat, age etc etc etc

Had no issue with DR prescribing HCG . Switched from clinic to a local DR. he did blood work and continued the same protocol tweaked it a bit though.
Walmart can fill a script for HCG. FYI

HCG doesn't make you LESS likely to impregnate someone, it makes it MORE likely. It is used as a fertility treatment for men. Just wanted to make sure you didn't think that both HCG and the pill were contraception and therefor it was super-impossible to get pregnant.

Yes, i know it makes you more fertile, that's why i asked. I did heard about a guy getting his girl pregnant while on cycle with hcg included even though she was on the pill. But then again, it could be bogus chat, that's why i wanted to make sure.

My doc doesn't use it, but he's a GP and I doubt that he's up on the most recent stuff.
I'm just surprised I can't even find a compounding pharmacy that dispenses it.
ETA: dispenses it for TRT. they did advertise HCG as a diet.Last edited by dfwo; 11-22-2011 at 08:02 PM.
