    Disagreement between my doctors

I turned 40 in September and had been feeling the effects of low T for some months before that. I was irritable, achy, zero energy, which was driving me to depression, so I decided to do something about it. I went to see my family medicine doctor and she drew blood and ran the full battery of tests. She said my test was "normal", but did note that my vitamin D was really low. So she put me on huge doses of that for a month and it helped some of the aches. I still felt a lot of the symptoms, so I decided to go to a local men's health clinic. That doctor looked at my labs and said that everything we needed wasn't there. So he sent me for more blood work. My 'free' test came back at 3.4 (can't remember the units), but he said he usually like to see it in at least the 8.0 and up range. I do remember that the normal range was from 4.5 - 23.0, or along those lines. So he has put me on Test Cyp injections. One injection a week, which is 200mg/ml. I have more energy now and I'm nowhere near as irritable as I was before.
So about two months into treatment, I had to go see my family medicine doctor about a sinus infection. When they took my blood pressure, it was high. I was about 145/108. I told her that I was put on Test and she wasn't happy about that. She started saying that a lot of the mens health clinics are just there to sell supplements and Test. So over the next couple of weeks, she had me come in, so we could monitor my BP. She ended up putting me in lisinopril and wanted me to go off the Test. I refused, because I really think I need it.
So at this point, I'd really like to roll my HRT into a full blown cycle. Not sure how I would work the PCT in though, since I'm not really supposed to go off the Test completely. Perhaps I could just take a few weeks off?

Ok, so your PC Physician didn't do the right panels and wasn't willing to help so you sought out a Physician who understands TRT, got the right panels and prescribed a TRT that will put you back to youthful levels.

You feel a lot better and things are looking good.

Now you want to conduct a "full blown cycle" and you're not sure how to put together a PCT.

How much do you understand about hormone repla***ent therapies and the drugs involved in the first place and why do you want to conduct a full blown cycle?

If you don't know what you are doing you could very well end up in very bad place...word to the wise.

BTW, many PCP's have no clue about TRT for men so know that and what her position is based on that.

that's why they call it practicing medicine.. and one of the reasons our test goes down as we age is we don't need it to do what we should be doing as we age.. grow old, earn money and be quiet...

you should ask her what would her course of action be if a woman presented with the same bp, and was on hormone repla***ent treatments.. would she tell her to stop as soon as possible??

prejudice, and that's why they call it practicing medicine, and not curing people..

and at 145/108... i'd be more interested in staying alive if i were you..

You just started TRT....forget the "full blown cycle" and concentrate for the next 6months to a year on getting your health back in order, I understand that you feel great right now, like you could take on the world but at 200mgs a week you will likely be fighting high e2 levels shortly. Take some time (months) to get your levels figured out and your health in order before you conquer the world.

BTW. congratulations on feeling like a man again, it's nice isn't it?

Okay guys, I hear you loud and clear. I will continue to workout, get the hormones under control and study more. What is an e2 level and how can I combat it? Im assuming you mean estrogen? Can I take Clen with the Test to help with fat loss?

Mike - Read our stickies at the top of the forum; they are there to educate and you will end up knowing more then you PCP when you are done.

E2 is Estradiol (Estrogen) and it metabolized by the conversion of Testosterone to Estradiol via the aromatase enzyme...you don't want high E2 levels.

Read/study the stickies and good for you taking the right approach now

That seems on the high dose side, isn't it?

What are your follow up labs after being on TRT?

Agree with the guys above. You need to get BW done. Correct panels are in the stickies (Finding TRT Physician) and will help you. If your not sure about your doc and she won't work/learn along with you then change doctors. It's your health. Links to search for doc's are in the aforementioned sticky. Adjustments will have to be made with your protocol and it needs to be done through proper BW. Post it up then you get it with ranges for review. Also always get copies for yourself.

Like GD said: Read the stickies, ad nauseum until it sinks in. You'll appreciate it later when you finally find a good doc and can speak at their level.

    Good luck!
