3 Months later here i am arguing with doctors still
I posted in a thread about 3 months ago regarding my low t problem. My total T came back at 182. I had a follow up with him in July & i expressed my frustration with him and told him hes not taking me seriously. He said whats the rush? youre low end normal. i dont know what to tell you anymore.
I followed up with a Urologist & he said i have no gyno symptoms & everything physically is normal. He doesnt understand why this is happening. His theory is the steroids im on for my psoriasis & asthma are lowering my levels but i dont see that happening because i dont think they would make my levels this low & i ve been on them since i was around 6yrs old.
At this point, im very frustrated & debating on self treating myself with testosterone . Please excuse my frustrations & understand this is a very hard time for me and even worse when those whom are suppose to help are no help at all. Take care.
& do you think me telling my doctor i will be self treating if i were to self treat , would be a good idea?

Im sorry i forgot to include that. Got a 2nd opinion yesterday which i was ignited this thread lol & all he said was he wants me to retake all the tests i had just taken 3 weeks prior. Not sure how much of a difference 3 weeks makes. Overall im very disappointed in this whole situation.

Mate,
don't sell the steak....
....sell the sizzle!
what does low test mean?
it could mean low libido
it could mean depression
it could mean ED.
So you gotta make up some reasons other than "Low T" to tell the doc and give him a reason for putting you on. But you already blew your load with these two docs. time for a third opinion. before you go, get your bullshit story together.
here's the story i told my doc, and he went for it....
Doc,
I've got a problem i need to talk to you abouut. My marriage is in trouble. I have no libido, and when i do try to have sex with my woman, I have ED. There is just no interest in sex anymore doc (add an appropriately timed "sniff" here...). My woman doesn't understand, and thinks that the reason i don't touch her anymore is because I'm with another woman, which isn't true. Now, i've tried (add favoriete PDE-5 inhibitor here), and although it improves the mechanics of an erection some what for me, it does nothing to improving the desire for my woman. I don't know what to do doc. I've been reading that these could be symptoms of low testosterone . I'd really like to try some testosterone and see if that works, before it's too late with my marriage and my woman. Can you help me out doc?
This line of BS worked for me mate, and it could work for you.
Never tell your doc you want test only because you have low test.

^^ TR is correct about making a marketing campaign with this if you're going to ever make it work with this doctor.
If it were me, I would have been out the door and on to a HRT specialist after being told that, but maybe your situation isn't the same as mine.

i really laid it out thick. tried to garner sympathy, and by asking him to help me out and help me try to save my marriage, well......?
so why is your cholestoral so bad? were you not aware of it? are you not trying to control it? increasing your test levels can increase your lipid profile. if you want to sell an idea, you have to eliminate all the objections.
not necessarily. i don't have a great answer for this, but a HRT specialist is focused on optimizing your hormone levels for quality of life reasons. an endo is also concerned about your hormonal levels, but more to cure ailments. I agree that a hrt specialist can also be an endo, so there is a great deal of overlap here.
maybe someone else can provide a better explanation?

"His theory is the steroids im on for my psoriasis & asthma are lowering my levels but i dont see that happening..."
Hate to tell you this but his "theory" has a lot of legitimacy to it.
There are many other prescribed steroids that are used for many pharmacological reasons and if you ever read the package inserts on many of them you would understand.
There are many prescribed steroids in question which can interfere with other pathways and cause all finds of bad things to happen sometimes even in small doses.
As just one example; Finasteride when used for men with elevated DHT levels which induces baldness can interfere with the sex hormone pathways and cause, in some cases, irreversible harm to the pathway.
You may want to take him serious on this and investigate it further as a cause as he may very well be correct...even though you've been on them since childhood...and it's this long term use that may be just the culprit...not the short or intermediate term.Last edited by steroid.com 1; 08-14-2012 at 09:08 PM.

As a physician on TRT I have a hard time understanding his reasoning. Although I have not seen ur earlier threads. IMO get another doc who has experience in this field. Cut bait and run.

NO , NEVER tell them about ANY off script use of hormones! you will scew yourself from every getting good life or health insurance (not its NOT private they make you sign rights over for them to look in med rec) when you go for it through work or on your own)
and just because you where onsomething since you where 6 does not make it safe. could even be THATS why yu messed up your endo development since you started messign with hormones at a very young age.
this is what you do:
walk in yo see your doc and tell him you woudl like a REFF to an ENDO that deals with this on a normal basis because you dotn feel you are beiang treated and brushed off, and also that you have every right to seek medical attention if you feel its needed for your health.
then be done with him.
182 is BS ! anything under 400 and I would be unhappy. (just me)

I think it may be :
diet/life style
passed hormone use
I think if you have bad blood and your body is not healthy you should work on that BEFORE hrt. it could verywell fix all the issues i kid you not. and if not, then hrt.
