I've found I have to do what is comfortable to me, I know what certain exercises give me grief, and a lot of them are the ones with extreme range of motion. I still lift heavy with low reps on my main lifts, but accessories i go up to even 25 reps if it's an isolation. But strength is crucial imo so that you are lifting weights that matter. I may do 5 or more sets for an exercise, but total sets on a given day rarely exceeds 13-15, and usually the higher rep stuff is less sets, and the strength movements are more sets.

http://forums.steroid.com/showthread...n-s-TB-500-log...........
Feel much better. I'm hitting my routines with more intensity. yesterday was chest, and right now, surpriisingly, I'm fairly sore since first time in a couple months I've been able to pound it. I'm also learning to modify my form, so this in part is helping too.
I've read several of the NCBI's abstracts on TB4 (TB500), and did not see ANY constraints on this peptide. it seems to be fairly safe given the limited.
Personally, if it were me, I wouldn't let that stop me if I were considering taking since TB500 does not seem to impact cancer risk. However, enough is not known to intelligently answer your question, as this is a relatively new peptide, and not enough data has been collected.
I understand the cancer risk associated with high IGF-1

However, this is a personal decision you will have to make on your own.
Good luck!

Whats up guys being 57 years young I love this thread.
I am fairly new to lifting again and till the past 6 months had been suffering a lot of repeated injuries by lifting way too heavy. After reading of the importance of establishing blood flow to prime connective tissues, I have adopted a new style myself.
What I have found to be a huge help is to warmup by doing at least 8 minutes of rowing on a Concept II machine. The first 3 very slow and the next 5 at a moderate tempo (105-110 BPM) then after this I will now warm up any muscle group with light long sets. For example if doing arms I will go to the seated extension and curl machines and set them at a weight that allows me to do 30 reps pretty easy, on these 2 warm up sets I will do them fast with only partial range. Then I will do full range but with a wieght that would allow me to do probaby 20 but I will only do 15, I do two sets like this. Then (fully warmed both connective and muscle) I will move to dumbells and use a heavy wieght ( with maybe 90% range of motion) that allows me to get 10 reps with probably 2 left if I ever really pushed (I don't). Since adopting this style of lifting I have been almost completely pain free, even the old injuries have almost completely abated.

Agree. Warming up is critical.
for me, it's 5 minutes on a stationary to get the blood pumping and heart rate up. then i hit the dumbell rack and grab the 5's and go through a few minutes of a variety of upper body routines at 15 reps. then i grab the 12.5's and do it all over again at 10 reps. grab the light barbells and do some twists, good mornings, and then bent over stretches.
when i finally do hit a work station, first set is fairly low weight. so i pyramid up to heavy and than back down to failure.
when i was a kid, i didn't have to worry about all this warming up. it takes time adjusting to not being a kid anymore!

Times,
Don't know how soon you plan to get your HD or what year engine package you plan to put in it, but if you decide to go twin cam and injection let me suggest you look at the TTS Master Tune for your project. This is a great tuner and really gives you a lot of ability to manage a fuel/timing curve if you have the knowlege. If I sell my house and move down south and set-up shop (currently I am not equipped to do this sort of work but am seriously thinking of getting back into it.) I will pm you some contact information and maybe we could hookup on the build. I have a ton of drag racing (nitrous, blower, turbo) as well and computer ( fuel, ignition, traction ) tuning experience and would love to take on the challenge of building a V twin with a boom boom p a u s e firing order as this presents a totally unique set of challenges that are usually overlooked by most bolt on kits.
By the way if you have any other stock to highly modified (but unboosted) injected twin cams the TTS works really excellent on bikes like this particularly if they have a pipe and air cleaner. By using a plug in map and tweaking slightly you can completly eliminate the dead spot off idle , actually the entire first third turn of the throttle will be like a whole new engine. As an added benefit it will get rid of the popping on decel, give you one bump startup, smooth hot/cold idle and keep the rear cylinder from baking. No I do not work for The Turbo Shop (TTS) I just feel its a product that deserves attention.
PS Also love the late model vettes with the procharger, thats another project that will be on the table if and when I make my move down south. However I would also love to do a whipple or other twin screw although the fab work would be an absolute nightmare.Last edited by Far from massive; 08-27-2012 at 12:23 PM.

FFM,
Really appreciate the offer. My days of wrenching anything but minor repairs (replace battery, oil change, etc.) are over. I've done some rebuilds many years ago when injectors were still in prototype mode.
Here's my delimma. I expect to drop $40k+ overall. Could go as high as $50k. Not sure. So, for me to get the cash quickly, my overseas project has to happen. but no need for this HD until after i come back in 7 years. If I do not go, I won't have the cash anytime soon, unless this one thing that has been placed in motion happens. if it does happen, it will probably happen within the next 12 months or so. if it does, then i've got the cash. (no, not expecting an inheritence!)
But just for the helluvit, why don't you send me a link so i can check it out?
btw, I'm thinking my harley is not as fast as it couuld be. i've made some serious engine mods, and my buddies bike keeps up with just a simple stage 1 kit in it for some reason. yes, i had mine dyno tuned, but it doesn't instantly scream when i twist the throttle like i thought it would.

I have been a big Max OT guy go for 10 years now. The principles are sound. 4-6 rep range, 6 total exercises per body part, in an out of the gym in 30-45 minutes. Stimulate, don't annihilate. But always move to overload the muscle. That could mean 1 more rep or 1 more pound. Google it, I'm too new to insert links.
I'm also a big believer in MSM

as much as i love talking about bikes i don't want to take this thread in another direction, I'd love to start another thread so i can show off my bike! going back to what FFM and TR said regarding warming up... i agree 100% especially at our age, our muscles don't have elasticity as they were in our youth. i also do stretches before working out.

Of course stretching is a MUST but it's funny Bass, I came to the same conclusion a while back that NOT doing full extensions or lock out works better most of the time. I dont do it 100% but have found I get less joint pain if I stop at 95% or so instead of FULL extension. The tendons are just not quite as elastic as they use to be.

I don't believe in stretching before workout. Warming up the muscle and joints yes, but stretch after not before. Stretching has been shown to limit lifts prior to.

Kel, just saw this, nice ride! one of these days I'll upgrade too!
just to add more evidence as to why controlled swinging is important. Lee Haney as many of you know is the number one bodybuilder in the world! he is over 60 years young and still kicking ass. he is injury free and joint pain free, why! because he knows how to listen to his body. take a look as to why and when you can swing the weights to prevent injuries.

Good video ^^. I'm leery on swinging with biceps though, cause my left has been re-attached. Probably just in my head, if I didnt do full extension I'd likely be fine though...

yes, i was on pain killers everyday, it was the only way i could do my daily things, once i got MSM i stopped the painkillers and been taking MSM for 3 weeks now, honestly i can do my daily things with minimal discomfort. i am hopping the longer i take it the better I'll feel.. so we'll see.

and hey Girly, yer not over 40 yet, are you? Nooooo......
sometimes I'll change up my routine abit and a stretch will go by without taking Msm. a few weeks will go by and then my knees will start aching, and then i remember.........
