Trt?
I Have hypothyroidism and was wondering if this can affect t levels. I'm tired and depressed and don't enjoy doing things I used to. This has gotten progressively worse and I just thought it was aging. Libido and erections are far from what they used to be. I'm only 35 and I just dont feel right. I live in central ca and was wondering if anyone knows of a good dr specializing in this. I'm having my gp do labs to test my t next week.

Yes, Hypothyroidism will cause low T without question. Just google it! Read the Finding a TRT Physician Sticky and possibly some of the search engines there will help you. There are also recommendations for Blood Work there that will help you. Make sure you get these and start maintaining copies for yourself! Get the lab report before you see your doc and post results on this thread so the guys here can review it for you. Tremendous amount of knowledge here that can/will prepare you for your doc visit.
Welcome to the forum!

Thank you very much . As for labs doesn't my dr have to order them? I have a list of panels from the trt forum and I've been reading as much as I can on here lots of info so thankful I found this site .

I'm in the same boat as you. Hypothyroid and low T. Always felt run down and just didn't really give a crap about much of anything. Being treating both conditions and starting to feel better now. I am taking Armour Thyroid instead of the synthetic stuff and subq T cyp injections. I think the hypothyroid led to my low T but can't really prove it. There is a link between the two however.

Yes, your doc has to order them unless you went to a private lab for testing. But, your doc works for you and should have no problem ordering what you request. It's your health and you are in charge. He's there to help. If you can back up your request with logic he should not give you a hard time. If so it's an indicator to move on in my opinion.

I've been on T cyp since 5 July and armour thyroid since 11 July. I am finally starting to get some results and have even started losing weight! Down 10 pounds now with no other real change except the hrt regimen. Last TSH was .54 and the doc thinks this is a little lower than he would like but I am trying to convince him to dose based more on symptons than bloodwork alone. Especially when it come to TSH (doctors are really hung up on that particular lab). My T4 is still rather on the low side but in "range" and I will get my T3 next lab. Still trying to educate him on why T4/T3 at top of range is more important than TSH but it is difficult getting through. Still, at least this guy is better than the last two docs....

Armour thyroid is produced to very tight standards. Won't say there can't be minute variations but nothing I will worry about. My doc had the same concerns but a little research will prove it very consistent in amount of thyroid components. Levothyroxine is T4 only where Armour is T4, T3, T2, T1 and calcitonin. Your body was not meant to run on T4 only and if you're having problems converting T4to T3 you will never get better. With Armour (probably synthetics too) you would typically start at .75 grains (~45 mgs.) of Armour and titrate up .5 grains (~30 mgs.) every 10-14 days until symptoms go away or are drastically reduced.
As a minimum you need to get your FREE T4, T3 and antibodies checked and preferably RT3 too. Hopefully your doc won't rely heavily (or worse, only) only TSH but on your clinical presentation of symptoms...

So I just had comprehensive bloodwork done everything came back normal testosterone level was 550 the range was 250 to 1250 this was done by an HRT clinic and I know they try to push TRT on people have it met with the doctor yet but was wondering what's at test level of 550 should I consider HRT?

Sounds like your t levels are running towards the low end of the range. My last labs (that have come back) had me about the same as you and I still don't feel I am where I should be. Energy levels are better but nothing to get excited about and the same goes for my general attitude. Just feel kind of blah if you know what I mean. Oh, libido is also decreasing after a pretty good increase for a few weeks. Had labs done last Thursday but no results yet. I expect no real change in t levels since we have made no changes since the prior labs. I'm going to tell him to increase the my t cyp to 150 mgs/week and see how that pans out. I don't think my thyroid levels are where they need to be either but I want to work on one thing at a time.

My thyroid levels have been norm for about 5 years since I discovered they were off. I have an appointment with a hrt clinic that did the labcorp test . I've been trying to find a local dr that specializes in trt but no luck yet. Yea I know what you mean about blah I consider myself successful own my own business have lots of toys and dont want do anything I feel like I struggle just to not nap all day and to get up in the morn is torture. I never used to be like that always up at 5-6 . And it's hard to fall asleep a lot of the times.

I'll let the guys with more experience comment on your panels. They will steer you in the right direction.

That's a lot lower than my levels but my Sbhg was pretty high so I think I had less available free test to my understanding . I just keep going back and forth on wether or not to start hrt . I have appt with trt dr thurs so I guess I'll get more input from him to.
