AndroGel
I posted this on another board but didn't get any feedback. Just wondering what u guys think
Here's an excerpt from an article I was reading. It seems to make sense:
"The only people who go on HRT and then come off a while later are those who un-naturally suppressed their GOOD T production through the abuse of T or through some other mechanism such as an extremely low fat diet for an extended period."
Sounds kinda logical. Of course the "un-naturally" would mean those using steroids .
My Dr. knows I'm on the sh!t. Just wondering if this could be the reason he prescribed it to me cause my T was low post cycle .
I'm in the middle of my PCT of 40mgs. a day of Nova, and 105mgs. of Clomid . So I'll wait a few weeks after my PCT ends before I give this a try.
Any thoughts?

That would be the writers opinion. There are many other reasons why someone may want to come off HRT. Drug interactions, wanting to try having children, economic reasons.

The article was incorrect imo. HRT is typically for life. Some dr's will prescribe HCG and/or Clomid to try to jumpstart the hpta. If your LH or FSH are suppressed this can help trigger production.
The problem with supplementing exogenous Test is that it inhibits natural production. Test being low during pct is perfectly normal. If you supplement Test at this stage the body will sense normal-high levels and will not attempt to produce naturally. The low testosterone is what triggers Test production as the body recognizes the deficiency.
In short, using Test gel, will most likely inhibit your recovery. I had this very question when I first started as well. I had Androgel n Testim on hand and was advised by a few of the Hall of Fame members on here not to use it for this very reason.
Now if after pct your test production never fully recovers or is naturally low than Test gel may be a viable option, however, it is typically for life (or as long as you want to maintain healthy test levels).

If your in pct you dont want to be taking any T therapy, you need to finiah your pct and wait at least 6-8 weeks then get blood work done and see where you stand with regards to your own test levels. All your doing if your on HRT is supressing your natural test when there is no need to so wait till 6 wks after pct ends and get bloods done.

After re-reading I think I may have misconstrued your question.
If bloodwork determines your test is low post cycle, then yes, Test gel is a viable option. As far as the article, as Fit said, it's more opinion than fact.
Personally I would wait 4 - 6 weeks after pct to get bloodwork. This will give your naturals levels time to stabilize and depending on the results move forward from there.
*edit*
As Marcus said, 6-8 weeks would be even better if you can go that long.Last edited by jasc; 10-11-2012 at 07:11 AM.

Oh I agree with u guys, don't get me wrong. I guess I was surprised my Dr. prescribed it knowing I'm on the shit. Or am at least post cycle. I guess he may get a bonus or something for prescribing it from a pharm. rep or something. LOL
I am definately waiting until I finish my PCT, (in week 3 now) then 6-8 weeks later after everything settles down, I'll go in for blood work again.

Many doc's just don't understand hormones. He may actually think that the Gel "supplements" natural test production. If you get BW after PCT be sure to get DHT tested as well. Gels tend to raise dht levels and it would be good to have somewhat of a baseline.
