E2Assay Not Available In UK?
Hi guys. I just got some test results back today but I'm a little confused.
My estradiol came back with a score of 65pg/ml. I asked the sic if this was a male sensitive assay and he said it was a standard e2 test and that's all that you get in the UK. do these numbers even mean anything?
he has prescribed me testigel but im a little cautious as u dont want it it ti aromatize.
the reason i am concerned is that i have pretty bad gyno that is getting worse and is stil tender to touch. I'm maybe just assuming my natural test is aromatising. Maybe there is another reason for it!
thanks.Last edited by Back In Black; 10-16-2012 at 07:44 AM.

what is the range on that test? to be honest based on my experiments and tests done by other here the standard and sensitive assay test are very different and not consistent from person to person, i did both tests just to see what the difference is and mine came back very close in ratio, but others were way off! so yours could be fine or it could be through the roof, and based on your condition with gyno my guess is your e2 is way too high. i am surprised testigel would raise your e2 that high, but you never know, everyone is different. id say talk to you dr. about it and mention nolva and AI, don't let this go for too long or you're facing a surgery.

I'll get the ranges tomorrow. Just concerned any extra test will convert.
Gyno is beyond help, hate myself for letting it get as bad as it has but the NHS just fobbed me off several times. Surgery is my only option and I should hopefully be having it removed by the end if the year.
Is test ogle unlikely to aromatise?NO SOURCES GIVEN

not sure what "test ogle" is, i am assuming its a typo and you meant gel, right. if so then yes, gels are known not to convert as much as injection, but it doesn't mean they don't convert, they do but at a lower pace.

maybe ask your endo/uro to give you an A.I? im guessing he knows you have gyno and what will make it worse (tho in the UK thats debatable :P ) , if not then get yourself some arimdex or aromasin and keep to hand incase you start getting worse symptoms.
personally i never hand any problems with conversion on tostran gel - but i dont have gyno , they told me to use the gel on stomach /inside legs , tho after reading that E2 conversion is worse in fatty areas i used it on my upper arms /shoulders instead , so maybe use in these areas (or any area with little subcutaneous fat )

My gyno can't get worse, it's an A cup at least. Its coming out before the end of the year. My concern is its potential to come back even though the surgeon says he will remove the full gland.
I am seeing Dr Savage like you, when he tells me the ranges I'll ask him about an AI if he won't give me one then I will probably get some anyway, I can't think what else is causing the gyno problem.NO SOURCES GIVEN

as far as i know the only other cause of gyno in males is high prolactin , tho i am sure the endo you have seen via the NHS forthe gyno has already checked this? , altho ive mentioned him a few times and spoken to him on the phone im not one of Dr Savages patients BTW -im NHS treated.

I can clear my gyno up in a few days with some Arimidex ...
I appreciate yours may be much worse but it may be worth a shot
Just putting that option out there

So the lab that did the testing has a range of 43-151 pmol/L. My Score was 65 which my Doc says is normal and he won't prescribe an AI based on that info.
So I suspect that my best course of action is, have the surgery and if the nips get sore and puffy again then jump on an AI?
EDIT - I just found a revers calculation for the above figures, it is pmol/L = 3.67 x pg/mL I'm a bit too stupid to do the reverse calculations on this but it looks like it would have me in the 20's maybe? Again, this is not male specific, just the test that my doc says is done here in the UK.Last edited by Back In Black; 10-18-2012 at 02:41 PM.
