Switching from 100 mg test IM to Sub-Q

    Hey all,

After reading some studies on how Sub-Q is just as effective as IM, I am going to give it a shot and post my results here. Today was my first day pinning Sub-Q into my belly. Was completely painless using 25 gauge 1" needle (didnt push in all the way either).

I have been having issues with e2 (slightly elevated) and RBCs and wanted to see if this has any impact on those levels.

So my TRT Is just test, no other compounds like hcg , ldex.

Ill post my full blood work in 4-6 weeks after I can get another script it.

I am curious how this will impact my levels and more importantly if it has any impact on RBCs. Frequent donations just sucks.

Ditto. In my case switching to subQ helped to keep my T levels more consistent, lowered E2, but my RBC levels spike quicker.

Thanks for the thread to let us know.

How are you splitting up the 100mg per week?

Not splitting, just 1 shot every sunday. Currently I only take 1 shot a week so I only like to change 1 thing at a time to see how it changes from baseline.

First thing I am changing is switching from IM to Sub-Q. Then I can see how my RBC, Test, E2 levels react.

From there I can try changing up dosage and frequency if necessary. Making too many changes at once and you wont know what actually had an impact.

Todays sub-q injection I went pretty deep under the skin (maybe 1/2") so I dont see any lumps/bruises. The last time I tried it, I had a really nasty bruise.

I have been having a hard time with IM injections lately so this is another motivating reason to try it. The injections have been pretty painful and I am starting to get anxiety every week before my weekly injection.

Ill post up my next RBC count and test/e2 levels after a few weeks doing sub-q.

Subscribed as well. At 100 mgs in one shot you may end up with a nice tender lump. To control your e2 better you need to split your dose to twice a week, also helps with lumps!

Make it easy on yourself and run down to the drugstore and buy some 31g x 5/16" insulin pins. You won't have to do any guessing on how deep to go.

The real benefits from subQ injections seem to be the increased frequency it lends to users, rather than some inherent benefit of the delivery system.

I wouldn't recommend simply injecting the same single, large bolus subQ as I do intramuscular.

+1 recommending splitting your subQ injections and doing 2/week.

Is there a thread that goes into detail on + - of SubQ over IM or IM over SubQ ?

Plus a little more info on proper way to inject ?

I have injected blood thinner SubQ by pinch an inch and push plunger and IM poke all the way and push ?

SubQ has always been in my belly and I would love to not have enough fat to SubQ my belly some day .

What are other injection sites ?

I did not know Cypionate would go through an insulin syringe ?

    31 gauge pin ?

Hey GFA, going thru same process too, my 1st pin Sub Q will be on Thursday- switching from 100mg test Cyp IM/ wk to 2x 50mg Sub Q- mon/ thurs. My 29ga 1/2" syringes just got here today. So, it will be interesting to see the results in 6 weeks or so.

I use 1/2 cc, 29 gauge 12.7mm (1/2") length, insulin syringe/needles to inject .40 ml Test-Cyp SubQ into my belly 3 x per week without any problems. Have been doing so since March, and have yet to have a bump or a bruise. *knocks on wood.*

I alternate left and ride sides for each injection.

Takes about 3-5 minutes to load the syringe, and 10-15 seconds to slowly inject.

I don't "pinch an inch" as per Dr. Crisler's latest video.

    Hey all,

    Quick update.

Been doing subQ for around 6 weeks now.

Went to see the blood doc and he did a quick RBC test.

    hematocrit 46
    hemoglobin 15

Levels are much more stable so far using subQ

I also got a script for labwork (test, free, e2).

Ill post up results after I get them back, scheduled lab work for this Thursday 1/3. So around 1/10 you guys should see them

Hopefully results will be positive because subQ is so much easier than IM. Still using the 25g 1" needles and injecting into my gut. 1 shot a week 100mg.

I know many have recommended going 2x a week but I want to see how it impacts my blood work before I make more changes. This way I will have a very clear picture the impact of subQ vs IM on RBCs and testosterone levels for my body.

Try splitting dose to a EOD schedule doing sub-q. Use a 27g 1/2" fixed tip syringe. I use this protocol and it works well. I would however recommend HCG a few times per week min. Also monitor E as you may need to control its rise but SQ helps so does smaller more frequent dosing

    Results from labwork (100 mg Test-cyp Sub-Q 1x a week)

    Estradiol 21.2 7.6-42.6 pg/mL
    Testosterone , Serum 366 348-1197 ng/dL
    Testosterone, Total, Lc/Ms 334.0 348.0-1197.0 ng/dL
    Testost., % Free+Weakly Bound 30.8 9.0-46.0 %
    Testost., F+W Bound 102.9 40.0-250.0 ng/dL

So when I did 1 shot IM 100g a week, my Total test was 792, over 2x what it is using Sub-Q.

This is a slight increase from baseline which was 284.

    Summary

    Baseline (no testosterone injections) 284 ng/dL (Sept 12, 2012)
    100mg Test-Cyp 1x a week Sub-Q 366 ng/dL (Jan 3, 2013)
    100mg Test-Cyp 1x a week IM 792 ng/dL (May 11, 2012)

Ill be switching back to IM with a drop of ldex 1x a week to keep the e2 in check. This explains why I have been feeling tired lately.

    That's really wild...

I would not expect these results and I cannot say why it is thi way...

The whole subQ idea says that, if anything, the release might be slower than intramuscular. But your results (although only 1 time) indicate otherwise.

Please do keep us updated. This is interesting stuff.
