Botched injection?
I injected into my quad this morning ( like I have done dozens of times) and there was a little pain, then when I pulled needle out, had little more blood than usual. Now I have a bump that kind of looks like a spider bite if I had to describe it. Tiny bit of pain by bump...any idea what might have happened? Did I miss the muscle and maybe just sub inject. I use a 1" 22 gauge pin. I am assuming the test will be absorbed regardless? Thanks in advance.
Ps It seems like it is going down now.....Last edited by Fireguy40; 01-05-2013 at 07:53 AM.

you simply hit a vein, I do this once in a while, in fact now I have a bump and pain that goes along with it, and this was SQ! it also could mean a small infection! no biggie, just avoid that spot until its completely healed.

I get it from time to time its just blood pressure form going through a vessel.
if its there the next day then i would keep eye on it.
just leave it after a shot.

That's why I always like the glutes...this never happens to me when I inject there.

Do you inject yourself in the glute? I have tried to turn enough to jab, aspirate , etc myself and always ended up pinning elsewhere. Any tips?

Yea, myself.
I am right handed and hit the right cheek at about same spot where the upper right corner of where you jean pocket would be.
I can aspirate as well.

Ok Gd- 2 questions. Do you pinch the skin at the target area w/ your left hand b4 the jab or just bang it in? and how do you hold the syringe- like a pencil and jab down or I guess from the right to the left into the glute, or do you hold it w/ the needle up and jab it that way (if your hand was flat and palm facing the ground- needle up or down?)

When I started I used my index finger and thumb on hip bone to get the right location on the glute.
I have been alternating sides since I started with (rabbit foot in hand) no issues haha.
I also have the b12 shots in the glute so my concern was soreness from so many shots but no issues yet.

you need to relax your muscle, probably hard to do with your size LOL! I used to get sore allot then I found out when I did cardio after the shots I didn't get sore! I guess flexing and working the muscle after the shot kind of massaged it and prevented it from getting inflamed, kept the blood flowing if you will.

once out of every 100 times i shoot in my quads I get a crazy pain... which is why i switched to SubQ from IM.
When I did IM though, I would hit the injection spot with a heating pad and a quick massage to the injection spot and never had that issue
