Impact of Prozac on TRT program.

I just recently started Prozac at 20mg for anxiety and depression. I was previously on celexa and had slowly weaned down to 10mg while on TRT. Unfortunately, my depression came back and the Dr. decided to switch me back to Prozac which helped me a lot 10 yrs ago.

I was wondering if anybody started Prozac and found that they needed to adjust their TRT protocol dose - up/down?

I'm currently injecting 30mg 3 X week for a total of 90mg of Test Cyp a week. Also, taking liquidex to control e2. I have been on TRT for the past 8 months trying to get dialed in and think I finally made it with the current protocol and am wondering if the addition of Prozac will cause me to adjust the protocol again.

    Just looking for some feedback.

    Thanks!

I don't have any medical evidence to back myself up, but I don't believe that it would make you have to adjust your dose.. it's like apples and oranges, both fruits but they don't come from the same tree..

In other words, they both act and/or counter-act chemicals in our bodies but I don't believe they throw each other off or cause an imbalance.

I'm on lexapro @ 5mg ED and if anything I would just adjust the lexapro and try to take it down to 2.5mg if I was feeling better with the test levels being back to normal so that I could wean myself off completely..

The only reasons you would have to reduce test IMO is high hematocrit levels or test level above range..

Thanks. That seems to make sense.

I did heard someplace (can't remember where) that it might slow down the clearance of estrogen via the liver.

If that's the case then just monitor for any high estrogen signs.. which everyone should be doing anyway,

also BW will let you know where you're at for sure..

Well, got my blood work back for my E2 and Prozac really didn't have any impact on it. However, prozac really seems to be jacking up my cortisol and really numbing me out. It's been six weeks so the sides are most likely over. I'm starting to wean off prozac and try to go without any pills or go back to the 10mg of celexa.
