    T Cream - Preventing Exposure

I've recently started using a testosterone cream which I apply in the morning to the inside of the thigh. I've been doing a bit of research, but so far I haven't found a straight answer to the question of how to safely avoid exposing others (particularly my wife). No pamphlet or insert came with the T cream, because its a blend says the pharmacy.

In some places I've read that skin to skin contact is safe as long as I wash the area where the cream is applied first. In others, I've read that no, she should never have direct skin-to-skin contact, because after it's absorbed the T is stored in the skin, thus washing with soap and water does no good, and clothing should always cover this area in order to avoid exposing her to it.

If the latter is true, this especially concerns me, because not only should I apply it in a different area (for hopefully obvious reasons), but the fact that the cream is applied with my bare hands means that they're creating an exposure risk, too, and I should apply it while wearing gloves. Also, this means that she should never touch my dirty laundry, and my skin where the cream is applied should never touch our bed linens.

Any definitive info would be greatly appreciated -- thanks.

I used Testim some years back. I would inject for three months and alternate with it. When my daughter was born, I stopped using it for the same reasons. I just thought it better to be safe. Besides I prefer the injections myself.

No, so long as you wash it off the skin, there is no contact risk. It has to be wet in order to properly transfer (either because it was recently applied, or because you broke a sweat after it dried on, thus reactivating it).
And no, test does not get "stored in the skin", unless you mean the dried portion that didn't absorb, which can be washed off with soap and water.

Try applying it to somewhere your wife won't touch (grundle area, back of scrotum...get creative!)

Very good to know -- thanks! What if, say, I apply the cream to my shoulders, it dries, I put on a shirt, and then break a sweat? Is there then a contact risk with the shirt, even if its been sitting in the laundry for a day or two?

Just wondering why a cream instead of a gel? As Dr Crisler states gels are for men, creams for women. "No offence meant"

There is a study of transfer risk, it would be very difficult to transfer your t gel/cream to another person as one stated it would probably have to be wet. Even with vigourous sexual contact it would be difficult, but of course use caution.

None taken -- I'm not sure why a cream, either. Maybe because the doc can specify the strength/concentration with a compound -- I'm using 175 mg/ml (apply 1ml every morning to shoulders).

Request Androgel 1.62%. Dries in seconds and is very convenient if your goal is to avoid injections. It should be your choice as to what protocol to use, not your doc's.

Only if she uses it to dry off after a shower...
