    Hair loss

I have been on HRT about a year and starting to lose my hair, not happy. Will it ever come back?

If testosterone or any steroid causes you to lose any hair, you were going to lose it to begin with. The only difference is you have now possibly lost it a little sooner than you would have otherwise, possibly. Will it come back? No, not unless you go to HairClub or something like that. Of course you could always stop HRT, discontinue all testosterone and go back to low levels. You'll more than likely hang onto some hair a little longer, but then again maybe not. At some point, you're going to lose it if you're predisposed to losing it. Further, low testosterone that's prolonged has also been shown to promote hair loss. So it's one of those "take your pick" type situations.

Thanks for the info! I just wasn't sure it was just because my E2 levels have been so out of whack because I have a hard time taking the medication to lower it.

Excess E2 could be contributing to the problem, but low E2 can also. In short, this tells us hormone balance is the primary thing to look at.

I've found that minoxidil helps you hold onto it a little longer. But it won't stop the frontal receding - just slows it down. Order it online through Amazon. Very cheap.

Nizoral shampoo is a start--a mild, topical DHT blocker. Finasteride gets a lot of bad press. I'm not saying to use it or not, but I do believe with highly elevated levels of test, you still may not see a major improvement. The more T, presumably the more DHT conversion. Fin might have trouble keeping up. Avodart will pretty much smother all DHT--close to 90% systemically, I believe, but I'm not sure that's necessarily healthy. We do need DHT.

I had no idea E2 was a cause of hair loss in men? Interesting.
