Finishing my year of TRT and I want to thank 2SOX and Kelkel for the many PM's that I sent and your answers to the many questions and advice that I have have received and to the others that responded in me finding a TRT doc here in Jax to simple questions to determine of I really I know what the hell I am doing and a big thanks to Steriod .com for making this all happen.

Thanks so much for your well wishes, guys. It's so good to know that I have had a good effect on others. It's the kind of thing that makes for a state of mind that fights disease and makes one stronger.

Last week was my first week of chemo and it's amazing what modern science and medicine has done to make things comfortable. Forget the images from those films that show people wretching over a toilet bowl. (Like in Breaking Bad). It just does NOT happen anymore. Anti-nausea meds are infused simultaneously during chemo so you leave with no discomfort at all. And you're prescribed meds to take at home if you're feeling poorly. The most I have ever felt is a little queazy.

The most serious side effects I've experienced is knock down fatigue for a few days after, and loss of weight - muscle mass along with fat. But this goes with the territory. Nice thing is when it's over, it all comes back - with hard work of course.

A lot of mysteries of my condition were solved over the last few weeks. The bladder cancer was more serious than first thought. It penetrated the muscular wall of the bladder and actually migrated into the prostate - which is what was giving me the pain I had talked about in another thread. Not prostatitis at all but the cancer inflaming everything down there. Saw a pain doctor who put me on Fentanyl transdermal patches, which deliver a continuous supply of morphine into the bloodstream - and Dilaudid for breakthrough pain. It was a new day for me. Incredible relief.

And this is a VERY big FYI for anyone on opiate pain meds: There is a relatively new medication, Movantik - which addresses OIC - opiate induced constipation. Once a day in the A.M. on an empty stomach, it disables the opiod receptors in the gut which makes your GI system operate like normal. It is truly a miracle drug. My pain doctor gave me free samples of this and it was amazing.

Anyway, after four courses of chemo I'll have to have surgery. Pretty serious stuff. The bladder and prostate have to come out. No more bladder means another means to remove the urine. I choose the Indiana Pouch - which is an unseen pouch inside the abdominal wall through which urine is removed through a small hole (e.g. belly button) by a small catheter every 4-6 hours. Much better than living with a bag attached! Sex? Yes. But the thing I am most grateful for is that I'll be alive to enjoy the rest of my life. I'm responding well to chemo and things look very good.

An after note: You may recall from another post that I had a procedure called TURP - to cut away some of the prostate tissue surrounding the urethra to relieve the symptoms of BPH. One of the benefits to me besides those expected was incredibly increased erection strength and staying power. Being with a woman I'm madly in love with is the main thing but things have been better than they have been in years!

Thanks, Kel. Will do. I'll ask about Serostim. But sometimes these things are double edged swords. Substances that help the body in good ways also feed cancer cells and help their growth and survival. I have no doubt that my use of GHRPs caused my cancer to progress more rapidly because GH helps cancer growth proliferation. I stopped those completely as soon as I was diagnosed.

Just got some excellent news. My preoperative CT of this past week came back with no tumor evidence at all. As the oncologist said, it looked like a "normal" CT. This bodes very well for my surgical outcome as the possibility of a neobladder (closest thing to a normally functioning urinary system) looks very good. Surgery is a little more than a week away - March 4. Five to seven day stay at the hospital. Thought I'd keep you guys updated.

Meanwhile I'm working hard for the main event coming up. Already put on some pounds and muscle over the last few weeks.

The surgery was on March 4 and was a complete success. All pathology reports came back negative so I have a second chance at life. The surgeon was brilliant and gave me a neobladder. Aside from having to use diapers for awhile, I'm on my way to a full recovery. I have to go easy for awhile but I already started back at the gym with a couple of very light workouts.
