    From TRT to Clomid Questions

    Hi everyone,

So I am finally trying to figure out what is causing my Low T so I got off of TRT after being on it for over 6 months.

My clinic put me on Clomid at 25mg every day because I told them I wanted to quit TRT.

He said that I should be feeling fine in few weeks. I actually do not feel too bad right now, but I have zero sex drive and cannot even get a full erection, nor keep it.

Is it the Clomid that is causing this or just the fact that my body is trying to recover from TRT? When I was on TRT I didn't have a problem getting an erection.

I really need help guys because my girlfriend is very angry with me and I have tried Cialis and it doesn't even seem to be working.

When should I expect things to get better?

Also, do you guys have any recommendations of how long I should take Clomid 25mg every day and when to start tapering down off of it? I have no direction currently since I quit the clinic I was going to and really need help.

I figured I would do 25mg every day for 2 months and then go down to 25mg every other day after that for awhile. Suggestions?

I am going to get blood work done after 2 months being on Clomid per the clinic.

I hope you can help me. I have another thread in this section from when I was on TRT if you want to check that out as well. I am 27 years old and had my testicles ultra sounded, along with all of the other blood work and they just said it is secondary.

    Thanks guys!!!!!!

Hey mate, i am no expert but what you are feeling is very normal as you are coming off trt.

In regards to Clomid and recovering back from short trt, Experts here will help you.

Well, browsing through your other thread it seems you got very good advice form Kel but chosed to ignore it, the information about your problem is all there. Did you do further thyroid tests???? Did you do the pituitary MRI????

With the information provided nobody can help you much more.

Now you started TRT without getting a proper diagnostic, so how do you expect to recover if you havent found the problem???

Sorry if I sound too harsh, but I'm not very good at sugar coating.

About your questions, it would be a miracle if you get better, 25mg clomid is worthless without finding the root cause.

Suggestions? Refer back to the thread mentioned above, although 6 months of exogenous test makes things even harder.

^^^^^agreed. You need to find yourself a very good urologist and go from there. This is more than likely gonna be a real pain in the ass but at age 27 I don't see where you have any choice. Right now you are just going on the "hope" plan with the Clomid. Not trying to be a wise ass, I know this sucks for you but what did you think was gonna happen by 6 months of TRT then using Clomid, did you think everything was just gonna "fix" itself?
There is a reason why you are low, now after injecting for 6 months you may never recover, you need to find a competent Dr.and discover the cause of your problem and stop putting bandades on a loss of a limb.

Thank you for this. My goal with the Clomid is to try to restart my natural testosterone and go back to square one basically and find the true cause of my low T.

Are we reading the same thread? I did follow Kel's advice and him and I even PMed a lot about it. He never said to get an MRI of my pituitary gland. There are no signs that it is pituitary related so I'm not sure what they would do. Didn't you see where Kel said that I was well within the normal range on the basic thyroid panel and it most likely isn't that, but I could test it anyways?

I'm fresh out of college and buying my first house, extra money is hard to come by right now.

I started the clomid to try to restart my natural production so I can find out about what the cause of my Low T is and hopefully fix it. My hematocrit was far too high on exogenous T so that's why I stopped taking it and I want to try to find out the true cause.

I'm asking what dose of clomid should I be taking, if my symptoms of zero sex drive and lack of erections is common clomid, and for how long should I take the clomid?

Please see above. I'm not trying to fix everything with clomid. I'm hoping to restart my natural production enough to where I can get blood work done again and start back at square one. I don't want to bandaid it with exogenous T. I did not feel any better on that and my hematocrit was really high on it so that's why I'm giving clomid a chance.

I even went as far as getting an ultrasound on my nuts so do you really think I'm not trying to find out the root cause of my low T?? I have also done blood test after blood test.

In that other thread, Kel and I noticed that my cortisol was also always out of range on my blood work so that could be the true cause of it. That's why I want to take clomid and try to restart and get back to "normal" for now so I can get good baselines again and see if I can fix the cortisol thing. Then if I can fix that, I can see if that fixes my whole low T thing.

    Make sense?

Elevated prolactin, cortisol and hypothyroid all will suppress your testosterone levels .
Your prolactin's fine now but you previously stated it was high.
    Your cortisol is above range.
Your TSH is way high. Basically high TSH and low (er) T4 can be indicative of hypothyroidism. Naturally you'd want more thorough testing to fully assess this. Consider testing TSH, FT3, FT4, RT3 and antibodies. Hypothyroid causes hypogonadism. Before you say your TSH is in range know that most ranges go up to about 5. A more modern range is .3 - 3.0. Take a look at Stop the Thyroid Madnessâ„¢ - Hypothyroidism and thyroid mistreatment and read up a bit.

Find a doctor that can address these issues first and foremost. When that's done and if levels do not improve consider an MRI of your pituitary for pathologies.

IMHO step one is full BW.

I mentioned your thyroid as your TSH is high and hypothyroidism will cause hypogonadism. Yes, your TSH is "in range" on that scale but it's basically an old scale. Newer scales are .3 - 3.0 and anything over 2 should be looked at. TSH by itself is a weak indicator of thyroid health but it's still an indicator and in your case you should look further. Consider TSH, FT3, FT4, RT3 and Antibodies.

Kel's suggestions is the reason why I am going back to square one and doing clomid so I can get baseline blood work more in depth now.

I just need to know, how long should I be on Clomid before I get blood work done again.

I started out at 25mg every other day of Clomid and then went to 25mg every day. I have been on Clomid for a little over a month now.

So how long should I stay on it and then get blood work so I can figure out what's wrong with me? Should I lower the dose of it soon and start taking it every other day at 25mg or just keep taking 25mg every day and for how long?

Thanks so much! I am going to retest and figure all of this other stuff out. I jumped the gun on TRT because I couldn't take feeling like crap anymore and thought it would be a fix. It wasn't and I was dumb which is why I'm taking clomid and trying to restart my natural production now.

Well, if you weren't shut down from Test I'd say 4-6 weeks. Otherwise I'd wait about 3 months to test and I'd stick to a daily dose.

How would I know if I was shut down by test? I was taking HCG as well so I shouldn't have been shut down from test+HCG for 6 months, right?

Also, is the 25mg ED dose of Clomid good for what I'm trying to do?

Thank you so much sir, I am going to retest everything possible this time !!

Well, BW would show that your LH and FSH values will be basically zeroed out. It's your bodies negative feedback mechanism where it senses the exogenous testosterone and shuts itself down as it doesn't need to produce it any further.

HCG doesn't stop pituitary shut down, it stops testicular shut down by mimicking LH at the testicular level which allows them to continue to produce intra-testicular testosterone.

    Yes on your clomid question.

    Thank you for this Kel.

One last Question until I get BW done.. When I get the blood work done, should I get it done while still taking Clomid or should I stop Clomid first and then do blood work? If the latter, then how long after stopping Clomid should I get the blood work done. Also, is there a particular time that I should get the BW done (AM?) and fasting or no fasting required?

    Thanks again!

Both. Get it done on clomid to see how effective it is for you and whether you need to ramp up dosage. Then when you come off pull it again (I'd wait at least six weeks) to see whether the stimulation had a positive, lasting effect or not. You'll need to pull it routinely for a while to see how you do. Always pull it first thing in the morning when endogenous test levels are highest. No need to fast if only checking T levels.
