Long Time TRT now with possible pituitary tumor - Bloods
Been some time since I posted but thought I would post up my labs due to the crazy results I got back. Been on TRT 15 years and dose keeps climbing up and up. Went in to talk to my doctor about my labs and was referred to neuro and a endocrinologist. Due to working out of state at the moment, it is going to be a while before I see my endo but the PCP and Neuro both suspect that I have a tumor. Here are the results and what I was taking TRT.
Normal TRT is 100 mg twice a week. HCG is 200 U every other day. Dx with Primary Hypogonadism. Doc had me take 100 on Sunday then 100 one day early on Wednesday and stop HCG and all supplements Wednesday as well. Blook work on the following MondayAM fasting.
Only posting abnormal results. All other bloodwork is within normal limits other than Cholesterol
Resuts Range
FOLATE >22.0 ng/ml 5.9-22
LH <0.2 Low mIU/mL 1.7-8.6
PROLACTIN 16.2 High ng/mL 4.0-15.2
TESTOSTERONE , FREE (LABCORP) 2.9 Low pg/mL 7.2-24.0
TESTOSTERONE 114 Low ng/dL 168-781
ESTRADIOL 17.8 pg/mL 7.6-42.6

I don't see anything that throws up a red flag for a pituitary adenoma. The only red flag is that your doctor who's been monitoring your TRT (for years I assume) would even test for LH at this point. An adenoma is not going to cause low T in someone on exogenous T. Neither will elevated prolactin. Prolactin is slightly elevated but without knowing your history of it it's hard to say how "out of bounds" it really is, if at all. I'd check your thyroid.
The anomoly is your T being so low. Makes me wonder if it's a lab error? Your next BW will answer that for us. Stopping the HCG will also give you a true testosterone only level without the added bump from HCG.
This is scripted test right? Not mixing in any UGL?Last edited by kelkel; 02-19-2019 at 12:39 PM.

These are both RX test and HCG. Thyroid levels were great. I do take Synthroid . I would have to pull my labs back up to get the levels. The doctor I see is out side of the VA and the VA does all of my bloodwork so I get a lot of labs once a year per VA protocals. My Prolactin is really high for me based on where it was a few years ago when they checked it last. Just a note, Kel, I did stop taking the HCG about a 2 weeks before this lab due to being out of town and running out of it.

Started out on TRT at 50 mg once a week when I was in my early 30s. I have been on 200 MG weekly for a number of years now and my test levels keep dropping but I was suprised on how low it was this time. Next boodwork will be done when I get back home on day before my injection the day after so they can judge on what dose they need to bump me up to.
For the other guys that read this that think they want to put themselves on TRT due to have low T in the 400 range pay attention, being on TRT is a chore and something that you will be doing the rest of your life. While TRT can be life changing it is also life altering.
