Insulin questions
i have been researching slin for quite some time now and seem to be gettin alot of conflicting info...main questions are..how much to start at...and where to inject...not sure what sub q means...sorry if these are dumb questions but i wanna make sure i dont f this up...I have a 10ml bottle of humalog...heard i should start at 4iu/pwo...my question is how many ml equals 4iu??? Have dextrose and gluco tabs..basically just wondering if anyone had the answers to my questions...thanks in advance

That i seriously doubt.
A number of the questions you're asking, you wouldn't be... if you had read this: The Book On Insulin
...or threads on insulin period.
How many mls equal 4 IUs?
Jesus.
Put the bottle into cold storage, and read, read, read.
Insulin isn't a toy.

WOW! Nails your thread really freaked me out there. I really hope you have not injected any slin into your body yet.
I can't find one statement in your thread that is relatively true in any way.
BTW you joined this board this month, which leads me to believe you have not done the research you claim, along with the statements you have made. Go read alot more then come back and ask educated questions.

IN response to this i think you being an ass in def uncalled for...which statements would you be referring to flex that are not true?? and if any of them are not true well then i have this wonderful board to thank for it and people like you who instead of help someone would rather just talk shit and then ride away on their high horse..didnt think my questions would be that hard for someone to answer..hell you already took the time to read this thread so why not answer the ?'s i asked?...could it be you didnt know the answers?? either way i thought the point of this board was to educate people on subjects they needed help with correct??

Insulin is measured in IU not ML. The insulin cartridges contain 3ML (300IU), and the vials contain 10ML (1000IU).
Start on about 4IU PWO and immidietly post injection have 10g of carbs for every 1IU of insulin. Maltodextrin or dextrose is a good carb choice. So if you have 5IU, you need to consume 50g of malto or dex.
For additional benefits you can add some creatine and/or BCAA with your carb shake you have immidietly post injection.
You can also have your protein shake (approx 75g) immidietly post injection, but I prefer to have my protein shake 15min post injection as that's when faster acting insulins kick in. Either way is fine.
Make sure you keep some glucose tabs on hand incase you start to feel hypo. I usually carry a few cans of coke (not diet) while insulin is active and if I was to start feeling hypo I would skull those down.
Start with using insulin on training days only, I wouldn't worry about using insulin on off days for now.
So you've taken 4IU immidietly PWO, and providing everything went well I would suggest to increase the dose to 5IU next time. Just keep on increasing the dose by 1IU each session till you get to 10IU. Once on 10IU I would stay on that dose till end of cycle. MAKE SURE YOU ONLY INCREASE THE DOSE IF YOU FEEL IT IS OK TO.
You can inject insulin IM or sub-q. IM is in the muscle (any muscle) and sub-q is when you pinch the fat around your belly and inject in the fat. I suggest you inject IM as insulin becomes more effective when taken IM. IM injection locations can be anywhere. I usually shoot in my bis, tris or delts.
About 1.25hrs after your protein shake, have a proper meal, something with protein and carbohydrates. I would usually have about 50g of protein and 50 of carbs for my first meal. Try not to consume fats at this time.
About 2hrs later have another meal same as above.
By the time you have your next meal insulin will no longer be active therefore you may eat as you usually do.
Just make sure you don't fall asleep while insulin is active, try and use rapid acting insulin such as humalog or novorapid and ensure you consume minimum amounts of fats while insulin is active. As I mentioned above, while insulin is active ensure you carry some glucose tabs or some type of food/drink on you which contains lots of sugar and minimum fats.
Please do some more homework on this stuff before use but I hope what I wrote helped a little.
All the best.

I guess im in a decent mood right now so i don't need to start flaming the hell out of you just to get banned.
But all nonsense aside i didn't mean to come across as an ass. Maybe i did, maybe i didn't. Im not here to argue with you about that.
But there are facts, like in your OP. "I researched alot"...Hours every night would easily find those questions. Maybe you don't know how to use this board yet since your a newb here. There is a search bar...search "slin or insulin " . Then read all the sticky's and important must read threads. And yes you are right, this board is here to help others and learn, but only to ask questions that aren't stated hundreds of times on this board. If you have any more problems PM me, the open board is not made for bickering.

thanks nark...my body fat is def on the low side so i will try the im maybe in delts or tris...this may sound dumb but what about my abs?? just fig in my stomach would be the least amount of body fat and would be very easy to hit muscle...what ya think?

Not sure if this has been answered but to answer your question in regards to what size slin pin, you can use any size insulin syringe.

You can use it first thing in the morning on off days, this will also help with recovery, but I wouldn't go too crazy on the dose, 6 - 7IU is enough.
I am actually not a huge fan of using insulin on off days in the AM because insulin is so much more beneficial PWO.

Thanks, If i decided to do that should I just follow same protocol with meals as pwo?
off days diet:
usually have 80g oats, 6eggs, fruit first meal, second: 8 oz potato, 6oz chicken, veg, third: 190g rice, 6 oz chicken. If i take the insulin first thing should I sub in a faster acting carb than the oats?????
DO you ever use your insulin longer than 4 weeks?

Gear, hey brotha, can you please clarify for us. I've seen MANY posts claim:
-inject slin then immediately (or within 15 mins) drink your shake
-1 to 1.5 hrs after the injection, eat a solid food meal, like chicken and brown rice
-2 hrs after the injection, eat another solid food meal.
Question is, on that 2nd meal, is that 2 hrs after the INJECTION, or 2 hours after the 1st MEAL?
Therefore (for example):
9am- Humalog and shake
10am- chicken and rice
11am- chicken and rice
***or***
9am- Humalog and shake
10am- chicken and rice
12noon- chicken and rice
Thanks in advance, appreciate it!!

Ok, cool, thanks T-Mos. I didn't want to start a new thread on an old subject, but I will do so any way.
