Muscle mass and it's help in reducing joint/spine stress

Does muscle mass/strength reduce the strain that is put on joints and vertabrae or do they still undergo the same amount of compression? Especially the spine; as in overhead presses and such.

It all depends on how much muslce mass. The bb type BIG guys it puts more stress due to the amount of mass but for the physically fit it reduces stress due to better use of the muscles and tendon strength helping stabalize the joints.
