Theres no set time limit for how long you bulk or cut.. you bulk until you think your big enough, then you cut. You weighing yourself in the morning or are you doing it at differnet times?

its possible to gain 3-5, a big jump at your weight, so good job. Keep in mind that few your water weight changes a lot in a day.. I vary 3-5 lbs plus or minus in a single day.. but im also 245lbs.. so one day i will weigh 242 the next i weigh 248.. not muscle or fat.. just water
regardless, keep up the good work

Agreed about the time limit on what you're doing - keep going until you feel bodyfat is becoming a concern IMO.
My response to what's quoted here would have been "keep eating that real food and you'll be at 200 in less than no time" - real food > shakes, always, undoubtedly.
OP, great progress, nice work!

No doubt, I didn't mean to say you shouldn't have shakes at all, but I wouldn't rely on them as a real meal replacement.
PWO obviously is a great time for a whey shake, and I like first thing in the am as well for a quick rush of protein after sleeping all night. I also have a casein shake before bed, but that's it. The rest of the day is whole foods.

That's exactly what I do too, sometimes ill add in one extra whey if I really can't eat but that's only if my work gets in the way of eating.

Good job brotha..And yes seeing the numbers rise everyday is a great confidence boost. Makes ya think hey im doing something right, even though some of it may be water..Good progress keep up the good work and i agree with brice stick with foods throughout the day for protein..Shakes morning post workout. And you wont go through so much damn protein so fast either, it so expensive nowadays..

Thanks for the replies guys. I was thinking about the cutting/bulking. If I get to say 180lbs and cut for say, 6 weeks will this increase gains in my next bulking diet because I'd been cutting?

If you want to be beach ready or contest ready then worry about cutting, but other than that its not really necessary (as long as you're not becoming a blimp or anything, reasonable BF%)
