US pushing hard at India To Sell Arms

US pushing hard at India to sell billions in military equipment/arms:

I guess no concern for how this appears to Pakistan. Or quite possibly we'll then turn around and sell billions more to Pakistan. Up the ante, tilt the balance and mother lode central Asia, South Asia and the Middle East with every conceivable possibility of conflagration.

But is that risk, any amount of money, no matter what the consequences, worth it? There is just as much love lost between the Hindu's of India and Muslim's of Pakistan as there is between the Palestinian's and Jews. Toss in Kashmir and the US providing a huge military buildup to India -- is it prudent? Money cannot always be the determining factor.

have you ever done any study on gangs and the current trend by police forces to control and minimize their impact on society??? (im not going to go into that too much, it's basically a containment issue, and as long as they stay in their yard and innocent people don't die, then they can kill themselves all day and night)

I would have to suggest similar practices are being applied with our foreign policies... Iraq is a perfect situation, if we could pull out, the civil unrest would be really bad, power grabbing, but in the end, it really doesn't matter who has their hands on the controls... except uncertainty with oil production and levels of oil accessability can have an impact on our economy.. thus it is of interest to us..

The issue with Iran is the same we had with Iraq, if we can't control or at least influence, lets get someone else in there..

Cuba, again, the man will die eventually, and this will give us the ability to reach out to them again..

I understand what you're saying, but in my view, in the case of Iraq, let them kill each other in their civil war. It's not our fight. **** oil and the big oil companies. Force the issue on R&D for alternative fuels/sources of oil. You were in intelligence and so was I. I think we may see some issues in a different light from others. In the case of Iran, rubber stamping what to do there how we handled Iraq would be a monumental mistake.

But India and Pakistan is a completely different ballgame. Both have been openly hostile to each other since before the conception of Pakistan as an Muslim country as a means to separate the combatants -- hindu vs muslim. Both are fundamentalist, extremist, prone to irrational lashing out and both have nuclear weapons and have come very, very close to using them.
