I havn't posted where I live or background detail, i prefer it that way..

anyways, yes scud type missiles are very innacurate, but very cheap, so they have many of them that they manufacture domestically, the US has these isolated large bases spread all over Iraq due to the insurgency that keeps them in a type of seige, very good targets for these scuds since they are only a few hundred kilometers away, they can be taken out with patriot type missiles but those are very expensive and in limited supply.

but the biggest problem is the shipping lanes the US military uses in the gulf to resupply this expensive disaster of a war they got going in Iraq in which they come under attack 100 times a day.. I posted this article:

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/bloomberg/20...a5lkau0wj714_1

on a different thread, if hostilities break out, us military shipping, supply and war ships are very vulnerable to antiship missiles in narrow waters, the US and UK (falklands war) do not have a good history when it comes to these types of missiles:
    http://www.usswaddell.com/History/stark/uss_stark.htm

us will hit hard but the funny thing is that Irans military isn't that great, it's strength is it's cheap low tech nature, you wind up blowing up a bunch of cheap low tech crap, easily replaced in a few years after the cease fire..

bottomline is the US is in a poor strategic position in the gulf because of their occupation of Iraq and their war there..this is why Iran keeps flexing it's muscles with seemingly provactive boat seizures, gulf manuvers and assistence to rebels in Iraq, not much the US can do about it except start a war which will almost certainly be a costly disaster..if you think otherwise lets see a different scenario??
