BERLIN Apr 15, 2007 (AP)— A Germany army instructor who ordered a soldier to envision himself facing hostile blacks in New York while firing his machine gun is still on duty, the army said Sunday.

A video of the army instructor telling the soldier to shoot and yell obscenities while thinking of African-Americans in the Bronx aired on German national television Saturday and prompted calls for an apology by the New York City borough's president.

When asked Sunday if the army would apologize, spokesman Florian Naggies said, "The German Army takes the incident very serious and is interested in quickly resolving it."

Naggies said that the case is under investigation, and the instructor "is still working for the army."

The video shows an instructor and a soldier in camouflage uniforms in a forest. The instructor tells the soldier, "You are in the Bronx. A black van is stopping in front of you. Three African-Americans are getting out and they are insulting your mother in the worst ways. … Act."

The soldier fires his machine gun several times and yells an obscenity several times in English. The instructor then tells the soldier to curse even louder.

The German Defense Ministry said the video was shot in July 2006 at barracks in the northern town of Rendsburg and that the army has been aware of it since January.

In New York, Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion Jr. said Saturday that whoever was responsible for the video should be disciplined.

"The German government obviously has work to do to correct something that is insidious. … Clearly these folks don't know anything about African-Americans or the Bronx," he said.

Many of you know that I'm black, so I must mention that you cannot completely fault Germans for this. Unfortunately, the perception that many outside the US who don't have contact with blacks on a regular basis, believe that most blacks are animalistic and violent. And the reason for that is the media outlets show only this side of blacks and we, as blacks are completely without blame for this. It's unforunate that the only image of black America that these people get are rappers and rap videos. It too have been around the world. It's a known fact that South American countries like Brazil and Argentina are the most racists in the world. Funny considering Brazil has the largest black population than any other country outside of Africa. And we all know that Argentina was a sympathetic supporter of Nazi Germany and allowed many former Nazi's to take refuge there after WWII. But in Europe and Russia, they believe the images they see coming from the US. And unfortunately all they see about blacks is violence, athletics, and slavery.

That is not what I am trying to connote. In Brazil and Argentina their socities are more cosmopolitan then Peru, Dominican Republic or Venezuela. Hence when you have africains, europeans and indian decendants, It seems possible that there might be more inclined to have racial tension amongst the groups. South Africa is an example that comes to mind.

Alow me to make clear. The British people and government are and have been a strong supporter of the state of Israel, and is well admired here in Israel for having an even handed and fair approach toward the Israeli/Palestinian conflict.
Having said that there is an extremely anti Jewish/Israeli attitude emanating from the massive and ever growing Muslim population in Britain. Many of which are calling for an Islamic state to replace the democratic government, and are proudly in support of BinLaden and other terror groups. .

i agree. personally i can do without the racist remarks but a man trying to motivate troops is not beyond saying things that most would consider offensive. i'm sure many of you boys in the military have heard things that would upset the majority of people. i know that if they recorded everything a pro football coach said to his lineman, during two a days in august, people's jaws would be on the ground. my canadien coaches "hated" americans and my american coaches "hated" canadiens. we took it in stride. alot of things are said in anger especially when trying to motivate. right or wrong it sure as hell isnt the medias buisness nor anyone outside of that group for that matter.

The links provided prove the social and economical disparity in those countries. If you do further research you will find that the disparities are greater in these countries than anywhere else. A logical deduction would conclude that because these disparities are greated in these countries it would indicate that these countries are more racists.

Yes, I can understand. What I meant, and mind you I havent been in Europe that long either, that in a country like France and Italy there is disrimination as an employee versus. I guess what I am trying to say in perhaps more specific to the realtion amongst state and society. In NA there are actually incentives created to hire visible minorities while in EU it is lagging behind. In NA I have seen CEOs of Asian, Indian, Black American origine. The same can be said in politics, in Canada I see many minorities as cabinet ministers. I just dont see that in th EU.

However, I would have to agree in France, Spain, Holland and so on it seems like you can mingle with people in society of different race with no problem.
