The school is just stating simple facts. (such as height, weight and BMI.) Then bringing those facts to the attention of a few parents who may not realize how unhealthy their children are. They are not kicking them out of school. They are not making fun of them like a group of immature school children. The government is not coming into the schools or god forbid the homes of these kids and forcing carrots and nonfat milk down these their throats. They are trying to help the kids. May not be a kosher way to go about it. But if it gets the job done. Why complain??

The problem is, some parents take this to an extreme. I've seen parents do what's amounts to force feeding their children. Stuffing sugars and saturated fats into their kids until they end up becoming disgusting adults. Where do we draw the line? They are killing their children prematurely.

Im the same with my children. They will never have a weight problem. Ive always been hesitant to give power to the government because once you give it, you lose that freedom forever.
I agree that it would be nice if everyone took there childrens diet seriously and maybe the some type of free class on exercise and diet would be the key.
I dont know where to draw the line but BMI isnt the ticket. Everyone knows thats a bs number.
I suppose if the kid was so fat that he/she had a hard time functioning in school there should be some intervention.

When you're feeding your kid shit and damaging their health and social life, its borderline child abuse. If the kid showed up with bruises, the school would get involved... if the kid complained he was soooo hungry cuz the parents didn't feed him, the school would get involved. Whats different about feeding your kid McDonalds every day and letting them balloon up to a whale?

You go be a sheep and let the govt dictate what you and your children must adhere to. I want no part of that.
