Is it me, or now that the bogeyman of Al Qaeda is dissapearing, politicians like David Milliband and John McCain feel the need to invent new ones. I mean why is this story even in Western newspapers? It has nothing to do with the USA or the UK, and it just seems like propaganda to make people fear Russia (better build that IBM shield QUIIIIIIIICK!).

Well after seeing how the media handled the Russian invasion of Georgia. It seems quite plausible. There was a lot of conflicting reporting going on. Im not sure if it is directly related for the need of another "bogeyman" but rather the re-emergence of Russia and its influence in the region. Also, how the west in counteracting.
Interesting article.

Well, what I like is that it goes in depth as to understanding the logic and reasoning over certain geopolitical actions. I mean all we hear in the media is the icing but there is much more beneath it all. I'm not sure for others but I try to analyze and comprehend certain actions.
Back almost a century the prize was British India(the jewel of the British empire) and it was quite interesting how the Great Game was played between Britain and Russia and to a lesser extent France and Turkey. Now the great game is all in oil rich middle east and central asia. Its just that the game, today, is played much differently then a century ago.
