    Patriot Act:

This is what I ascertain as being overreaching and completely Un-Constitutional in nature.

It is long, of course, in nature and requires one to read and research it's full text.

This is why most senators and congressman didn't bother to read it before they voted and Bush signed it into law.

Basically, the general consensus is that we are somehow protected by this legislation, when in reality, it's a false security blanket. Sold to the people as an anti terrorism bill.

The ramifications for this are limitless and unprecedented.

We have no real standing Constitution under this act of Patriotism.

It's tyranny against the people, it's that simple.

And those who will argue differently about it, either doesn't understand what they are reading, or is living in some kind of "bubble".

It does nothing to protect US civilians from terrorism. If anything it promulgates it.

Power and control. That is what is really about. Period.

Peace bro's and take the time to read and research it before you bring a debate to the table.

    Best.

So how does that negate or even lessen the fact that Obama did and still does support it? He said nothing that lays blame.

    Hey, BgMc, what's up?

I knew this would get you going.

I don't know if Kratos is blaming Obama, I think he is just saying it.

Your right, the Bush administration started this crap.

The republicans and democrats are to blame collectively.

Or would it be "we the people" who are to blame for letting the government get so out of control?

I'm not pointing fingers at anyone specifically on this post.

But, I think that we could do just fine without this piece of "slight of hand" legislation.

    Peace

The only one that could get away with going against the Patriot Act was Ron Paul.

And although I agree with his Idea to scrap the whole thing, it cost him votes and the election.

BgMc is right, Fear is a great political tool!!!

Simply by omitting that fact that the Patriot Act was spearheaded by Republicans and vehemantly pushed by the right wing implies to me that he is trying to rest blame upon Obama.

What it is, Titanium?! I've always been against the Patriot Act and the reason why this got me riled up was because the Republican party has always been the party of no government intervention into private lives (well, that is the party line), but then they institute these blatant constitutional violations using the word protection as the reason. It just furthers the idea how hypocritical they are. But more and more I am starting to realize that both parties are full of shit. I've had conversations with both Blome and Godfather about the libertarian platform, but I cannot subscribe to the ideology put forth by the republican wing of the libertarian party. Most call him an extreme left wing liberal but Bill Maher claims to be a libertarian (and other's seem to agree), I like his libertarian stances.

No BgMc, I'm just saying don't expect it to change anytime soon.
    What Obama wants Obama gets.

He may try to reform it a bit, but in the end, he isn't on the people's side on this one.

I'm just saying we're stuck with the patriot act for at least awhile longer.

    You're confusing republican and libertarian.

Republicans have no problem telling people how to live their lives, if they should have a baby, who you should have sex with ect.

    Well put.

    I can see that point.

A man may be judged buy the way he speaks, the clothes he wears, or the party he is affiliated with.

    None of that matters.

It is what he actually does that defines him.

You are then actively judged by what you do, once you have the power or influence to do so.

This pertains to everyone, not just political figures.

This "Patriot Act" is not worth the TP it was written on.

I do not believe that , if the content be known, this act would pass congress today.

Once a law is in place, especially on the federal level, it is hard to change it.

I think that it's parameters and the scope of it need to be re-structured.

I also believe that we are stuck with it forever.

So, the only recourse would be to change it.

But that would mean people would have to become politically active and call upon there state reps and congressmen.

And I see the American people as being spoon fed some Pablum with brain washing ingredients in it.

It's amazing if you think about it.

But truly pitiful on the other hand.

    Best
