This has been all over the UK news today. We're supposed to be over there, building a stable government and this is what happens? Apparantly a member of the Taliban infiltrated the Afghan police force, yet the Afghan police have a long history of drug addiction and corruption and have long been in the pockets of the Taliban, trading weapons and having secret meets. We're supposed to be training these guys up to fight the Taliban, and the return for that is the assassination of our boys?

Surely isn't this enough now? Doesn't this just prove no matter what we do, nothing is going to change after we leave? It'll be the same despot shithole that it was before we went in there. If these people want to go batshit in their country I say let them. If the people really want to do something about it, they'll overthrow their government if that's what it takes.

But hey, if we're not dying over there by the thousands then the evil of Islam, that has now replaced the media fueled fear machine of communism, will only come to our shores right?!

Someone will overthrow the gvmt after we leave, but it won't be the people. It will be the militants, because they are the only ones in power to do so. The taliban had control of the contry when we went in, and they will regain control whenever it is we leave. The net effect of us being there and installing a puppet regime will be zero.

Im forced to agree with this. I mean how long is the West going to keep funding the third world? All we're doing is keeping the corrupt leaders in change. I even heard that the Saudis want to be compensated by the West when oil runs out for loss of earnings. You really couldn't make it up.

Our control of such a country is predictable as is our fate if we continue occupying them.

As far as giving food to 3rd world countries, sometimes it rots in the sun due to the civil unrest there.(in this case I am referring to southern Africa).

This is due to the multiple groups in a power struggle, that want control of the food/medicine we give them.

The word is one fvcked up place to live in.

I hate the thought of my kids future in such a place in time as this.

I know personally that this happens alot in iraq and afgan.. police over there are terrible and worse than old west cops back in the day.. they do the binding of the people who pay them the most not the government.

I personally on a QRF team to this type of same thing happening in Iraq by Iraqi police.
