    UK student fees increase 300%

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-11566509

It's been a controversial issue, but student fees will now increase from £3290 a year to £9000 a year. An increase of 300%, as this was passed through parliament about a 45minutes ago. Im pretty sure this now makes the UK the most expensive place to get an education in the Developed world, even surpassing America, and I guarantee the quality of the Universities in the UK will not surpass Americas in due time.

It's a fvcking pisstake if you ask me. Not surprised that Cameron couldn't give a toss about the working class, but Clegg is the most dissapointing part of this. He got a massive amount of votes from students as he pledged to have the cheapest fee's in the country. That's obviously not the case now.

The worst part is, what will change? The level of teaching wont go up, it wont improve.

This doesnt affect me. I graduate next year, though it's put me off wanting to do a Masters now.

EDIT: The Lib Dems had the power to overule this. They PROMISED students something like this wouldn't happen. Less than half actually honoured this. Seems the Lib Dems, as soon as getting into power, were more concerned with keeping the Tory part of the government sweet and the perks that come from being a politician in power brings.

Tuition is going up here in the states as well. A lot of students are freaking out. My wife recently went back to school to get her MBA and a lot of her younger school friends are screaming about the new costs.

Well, we now (UK) have the most expensive Universities to attend in the world, as of 2012, but if that's going to increase in America then I fully sympathise with anyone over here. I mean costs here increased threefold, no idea what they'll have planned over there.

EDIT: Several police officers have been injured in clashes with protesters. Now I dont think violence is the key in these sort of things, but sometimes violence is the only way to get heard. A "peaceful" protest was led a few years back in protest of the Iraq war, but the Government totally ignored it. 90 minutes after this decision was made, the aggression of the protestors is still strong. The police are asking people to calm down.
