The dicks at Dick's destroyed $5 million in ARs ... just to prove a point

Just to prove how woke they are, the dicks at Dick's Sporting Goods cut up $5 million in AR-15s. As in cut up with a saw. Which was an ultra-dumbass thing to do, on two counts.

First of all, Dick's already had paid their wholesaler for those rifles. And the wholesaler already had paid the manufacturer. So everybody in the supply chain already had made their customary profit from those firearms ... except for Dick's. To them it's a red $5 million entry on the P&L sheet.

If we accept the presumption that Dick's only bought those rifles to begin with for sound business reasons (because there was a market for them), then the fact that those guns no longer exist won't make that market opportunity disappear. There's still red-blooded Americans somewhere with $5 million already earmarked for that shiny, new EBR. So it might not be Dick's wholesaler or the same manufacturer but somebody will build and sell $5 million worth of rifles to that exact same $5 million-worth of gun buyers. It just won't be the $5 million-worth Dick's destroyed,

Which means the collective firearms industry will have made the profit from $10 million-worth of gun sales on just $5 million in guns.

So well done, Dick's!

You have to wonder how anybody that damn stupid got to be ...oh, wait, ...no, we are talking Dick's here. So, yeah, now it kind of makes sense!

With enemies like that, the gun industry don't need so many friends, do it?


Then there's the small matter of Dick's having stepped on its metaphorical dick with the BATF. Why? Because the proper method for destroying a firearm -- and an AR-style firearm in particular -- is set forth in federal law. And cutting the guns up with a saw DOES NOT COMPLY. Just like the fucking idiot from Virginia who was running for Congress and made a big to-do over cutting the barrel off of her hubbie's AR with an angle grinder.



Except even with the stubby barrel it still was a live and breathing single-shot rifle, which means that the instant the barrel end fell off, she was guilty of manufacturing an SBR without a license and possessing an illegal SBR.

And oh yeah, she got trounced in the election, and the gun didn't heal itself after.

I swear demoncrats are almost as entertaining as a tank full of sea monkeys.

Anyway, according to the books, Dick's *technically* is still accountable for those firearms. The BATF can drop in any time to inspect them. And they won't accept "We cut them into pieces and put them in the dumpster" excuse.

Yep, they want the receivers cut in a very specific manner. That's why pre-86 stuff that had been demo'ed is outrageously high....if you can find a cut receiver.
