    wrestling and powerlifting

I have a question about the two. I was thinking about joining the wrestling team next year because they wanted me to come out this year and i miss it alot. My question would be how much would it affect strenght. I figure I could lift in the morning and practice at night. I would lift 4 days a week and wrestling is 4 days a week also.

Depends on whether or not you'd be having to fight to make your weight for wrestling.

If you're a heavy weight, maybe no loss of strength.

Eat lots, keep the food clean, and you'll be surprised how much a guy your age can do.

You may have to cut back on Max Effort days before comps, but that might just mean not as many strength gains - may not mean losses at all.

being a hvwt, it will effect you less than someone who has to cut weight, you also have the possibility of injuring yourself, if this was me i would do this...
first off train only 2-3 days a wk, i would do 3 , take an exta day off you will need the extra recovery time with all the activity, 2 do not compete in any Plifting contest during the wrestling season, maybe a press contest, but i wouldnt try to train for a full power meet.
3rd and most important listen to your body, if you have a hard day at wrestling practicem and you feel out of gas when you lift, than take it easy that day and dont push it.

I was a college Div 1 all american wrestler during the season I bench 265 for 3 sets of 10 squated 315 for 3 sets of 10 and deadlifted 315 for 3 sets of 10. i also, had 3 hours of wrestling practice, In the off season that year I benced 440 squated 550 and pulled 560 in the 181lb class. What I am trying to say is you must be in excellent physical and cardio shape to win in wrestling. If you always lift for powermeets you will not last long in a match
