    I then thought “hey let’s make it into a contest”

    So what is the contest?

    It is very simple; Name our new product GW-1516 and win it FREE!

    When you refer to yourself, then "people" would be singular, not plural, and therefore would need to drop the "S". The apostrophe implies possessiveness, which is inappropriate in this particular passage.
