Guys, I’ll always speak my mind - not deliberately trying to be an a-hole.
A: has been documented you can get it again.
A-1: you need testing to know if you have it or not , thus out of respect for others wear one, because assume you have it, because not enough tests are available.
B: even with facial hair, if the mask stops 75, 50, 25% of infected material from passing, then 75, 50, 25% of the spread has been reduced to others. The mask is to protect others. Unless it’s a N95 mask, it’s not likely to help you. But of course, the argument could be made, that if a person is worried that they can catch this they shouldn’t leave the house. I guess it’s a little like the second hand smoke thing. Sure, it’s your “right” to smoke in public, but if you don’t want to inhale the second hand smoke, just stay at home.
C: my wife, friends and co-workers are getting fed-up with people eager to get out and spread the disease to others. That means they must be exposed to it at much higher rates. They are starting to suggest among themselves that if you don’t want to practice the social courtesy of social distancing or wearing a mask in public it’s of course your right. But they sure really don’t have to accept or treat you or your family members as a patient(s). Unusual times have unusual circumstances. Maybe you’ll start seeing signs in medical offices that say they have a right to refuse service. You have your rights and freedoms, they have theirs. Have you ever considered the fact that the very profession that is trying to keep you and yours alive and healthy is getting disgusted by everyone’s whining and selfishness. The ICU is starting to fill more, they have more important things to do than bitch and point fingers.
As I said, just my perspective and don’t mean offense. Simply another view to the situation. Now for those whose areas that are not really affected, I understand your frustration. Question is, I’m guessing that in your regions you still manage to catch colds or the flu (which is a Coronavirus) which means it’s logical to assume that you could catch this as well. Now if you don’t have a high density of at high risk individuals, then it’s logical to NOW take a different approach than different areas of the country that do.
