Have you tried apple cider vinegar or a little backing soda?

Gluten And Acid Reflux. A recent research study linked peptic disease (heartburn, GERD, stomach ulcer) to gluten exposure in patients with gluten sensitivity. This simply means that gluten and acid reflux are linked.

What common food allergies cause acid reflux?

The foods that most commonly cause an allergic reaction leading to EoE include milk, eggs, wheat, soy, peanuts or tree nuts and fish or shellfish. You may have a combination of allergies that increase the risk of EoE

I actually am trying some baking soda and water today. Could I really be developing a food allergy at 33 years old? I guess anything is possible.

Yeah allergies are not necessarily something you are born with and can develop over time from exposure. I know its a stretch but??

The throat specialist I saw did mention something about a food allergy causing this but he mentioned if that was the cause I would feel like something was stuck in my throat or have difficulty swallowing.

My daughter had a bunch of problem when she was younger, pre teen and had to see several throat/acid re-flux specialist. She had I believe 3 different endoscopy procedures to try to figure out what was wrong. Tried all the normal meds. Nothing seemed to really work or not for long.

She has managed most of it by figuring out what she was allergic to. One of the main things was Yellow #5? It also triggered migraines with her.

What are the side effects of yellow No 5?

It is a nitrous derivative and is known to cause allergic reactions such as asthma and urticaria, as well as having been the focus of studies on mutagenesis and carcinogenesis due to its transformation into aromatic amine sulfanilic acid after being metabolized by the gastrointestinal microflora.

Reactions to food dyes are seen as a food intolerance, not an allergy, but symptoms include upset stomach and headache. Dyes are generally used in highly processed and extremely sugary foods, which you should be limiting anyway
