how lond can you let a protein shake sit?

i thought i heard that once its mixed with water or whatever it starts to break down and you should drink it right away after mixing. i was wondering since some mornings i dont have time to make a decent breakfast if i could throw my protein powder in the blender with some peanut butter, milk, oats, and banana or somting and blend it up and leave it in the fridge overnight and just grab it on my way out the door in the morning? or would sitting that long hurt it? its just unflavored whey concentrate that i bought from true protein. thanks for your help

I wouldnt let them sit very long. Protein drinks are a very good source of nutrition for bacteria.

I don't know for sure, but I'd think it should be fine overnight if it's in the fridge. I don't think I'd leave it more than an hour or two outside the fridge though.

Why do you have to mix them?

I carry my shaker with my powders inside it, then simply add water.

If you mix your shake at the gym - its fine to have it sitting around for an hour or so sipping on it while you're working out right?
