BACK DAY...too many sets??
hey guys-when I train back I usually do about 16 sets...8 pulling down, 8 rowing motion, then work 3 sets of rear delts, and 6 sets of traps....is that all too much for back day? am i over training? ? ?

i would be over training if i did that
i don't do more than 12 sets for my back (6 pulling, 6 rowing)
3 sets for rear delts is kosher
6 sets for traps seems a bit much, i'd suggest 4 or 5

I dont think its too much at all. I do 16-20 sets for back altogether. I work real delts on shoulder day tho not back day directly. And traps is usually 6=9 sets as well.
I will do something like this:
Wide grip pulls - 5 sets
Bent over rows - 4 sets
Seated cable rows - 4 sets
Deadlifts - 5-6 sets

Exactly man, you gotta really nail your back. I personally just dont think 10sets cuts it for back considering it is such a large muscle group.

cutler does up to 25-30 sets for back, more than he does for any other bodypart. then again, that mans a pharmacy and i would never suggest anyone do that many sets. just showing though that 12 isn't that much all things considered.
back takes up as much area as chest and abs combined, not to mention your lats on either side giving even more. you really think 10 sets can hit all that muscle effectively enough for growth?
